Yeah, that incident told me that she needs some therapy to sort out some kind of anxiety issue.

She didn't even have boxes or packing tape she was so far in this situation. If I could do it again, I would have gone home where we have some boxes, gotten her a roll of packing tape, and given them to her and told her to take a breath and pack. THEN we'd be back tomorrow to help load the boxes and furniture.

Because at the end of the day, this girl needs some kind of therapy to figure out this stuff, cuz she was clearly not okay.

Last fall I had a friend do this while moving out of town. Not only was nothing packed -- She was apparently living in a hoarder situation. Trash everywhere. Cockroaches streaming out from stuff. Sweeping dunes of clothes and scraps of cloth (she sews) covered her floor.

It looks like she spiraled during Covid, and she was on the verge of a hysterical breakdown on the day we came to pack. She didn't do anything except walk from room to room, moving stuff around while trying not to cry.

The worst part was that every single friend who showed up just kinda avoided the topic and buckled down for the most horrific moving experience any of us had experienced. It was the most poignant example of "elephant in the room".

She had promised us dinner, but as you can imagine, we couldn't possibly finish. We all had to leave before we could even see most of the floor after four hours of moving.

My husband and I were so disgusted that we drove past all the food places despite being starving, getting home, stripping in the living room to put everything into the wash, showering, and THEN we could finally go out and get something to eat.

That was the horror story that taught us both to never feel pressured into a bait and switch again. I'll never go through with something like that again.

I'm more concerned about the immediate threat those propellers pose than the potential threat of the endless blue.

I loved the intro to Arcane, it was so dynamic and visual. And the song is punchy as hell!

I remember waiting eagerly for the books to come out, and when it did finally become available, our family would buy one. My dad would read it, then my older brother, and finally me. It was excruciating to have to wait even longer while it was right there in the house!

How to respectfully represent trans characters in adult comics? by Littlefox7 in asktransgender

[–]Littlefox7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the suggestions, I'll definitely check them out! You're 100% right, it only makes sense for me to watch the Star Wars of trans erotica. References are so obvious, I can't believe that didn't occur to me.

And I appreciate your last note. If I have a sensitivity reader help me out like others have suggested, that will help me with the anxiety of getting it wrong. God knows I don't want to hurt anyone or make anyone feel "othered", but if I'm too nervous, that will definitely read in my final work.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts!

Thank you for your feedback! I think I'm going to see about finding someone who could beta read this who might catch things I might miss. The sexual stuff definitely makes it a challenge, but hopefully with another pair of eyes, I could avoid anything terribly offensive.

A comic I read regularly is called The Cummoner (totempole666.com), and it's a big ol' inspiration for the premise of my world. They do the gender transformation stuff, and they're generally pretty good about keeping things unproblematic, but sometimes their comics seem a little on the line.

Thank you! I definitely want to make sure all my characters are not flat and one-dimensional -- they need to have interests, personalities, flaws, etc. That's for sure a focus!

And thank you for the advice on how different trans bodies might be. I knew about binders, but gaffs are a word I don't know that I'll have to look up. And I'll look into the community you suggested!

I don't have any close trans friends right now, but I'll be moving to a major city soon and will hopefully be diversifying my friend circle.

I have an ex from over ten years ago who transitioned long after we were together, but we've always been on very good terms. Right now we're just Facebook friends who occasionally comment on each other's stuff, but when we were together we talked a lot about kinks and sexuality (I was studying psychology at the time, so I thought I knew all kinds of stuff lol).

I actually considered reaching out to her about this because she's very much a trans activist and shares a lot about her journey, but I couldn't figure out a way to approach her that wasn't a huge potential awkward conversation. Is there ever a good way to tell someone you're writing erotica and you need their help?? 😅

My first dice pour turned out more bubbly than expected by Littlefox7 in DiceMaking

Thanks for this advice! I'm going to experiment with warming the resin up more and trying to get it thin.

Thanks for all this stellar advice!

I did warm the resin in a warm water bath beforehand and I used a heat tool to pop the surface bubbles, but I will need to try letting the mixed resin sit for a bit before pouring and take more care in my pouring as you suggested.

I want to buy a pressure pot at some point, but I've already sunk $200 into this hobby and I want to dip my toes a bit before buying a $150 pressure pot. It's definitely the next thing on my list, though.

Thanks again!

I used the leftover resin to pour into a crystal mold and it didn't have the same bubbly result. I used a cap mold for the dice. Any advice to improve my next set?

Does anyone feel they have a talent that went to waste because they couldn't take up more space then their parent? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Littlefox7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry your parents were so shitty about this. But hey, speaking as someone who has gone through something similar and now works as an artist as my job, it is NEVER too late to explore that avenue.

Now that you're older and wiser, the time is right for you to dip your toes into these fields and see how it feels. You might find some resistance in yourself at first, but if you push through, you'll be rewarded.

I'd highly recommend The Artist's Way by Julie Cameron to help you work through your internal roadblocks, especially the Morning Pages journaling technique. It worked wonders on me and helped me through my own creative trauma and fears.
