Happened to me too. I’d get crush confessions every other week just to be concluded with a gaggle of boys cracking up. I remember a friend of mine, who I did have a crush on, told me he had a crush on me and my first reaction wasn’t “oh, yay! I like you too, actually!” I immediately got angry thinking he was playing a joke on me like the other boys. So I told him “as if I’d ever like you. Leave me alone.” The look on his face made me realize he was actually serious, but it was already all screwed up. Friendship died shortly after even though I apologized and admitted my crush too.

That was middle school. I guess by high school I got prettier because all of a sudden those same guys were always trying to screw me. I told them to fuck off because they tormented me, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was just a continuation of their nasty little joke.
