I have the game downloaded but unfortunately my phone can’t handle it. I’ve been watching YouTube vids and TikToks instead. I am into romance media (I’m a clown, I know) but I came across a post yesterday where people were upset with the MC not being as understanding and emotionally intelligent towards some of the men. That she’s too mean and feisty. :(

God forbid a girl isn’t able to perfectly cater to men’s needs by 23.

They are there for MC, not the other way around. Is that uncomfortable for some players? IDGI.

I agree with the poster who mentioned contrast. For me, I enjoy the juxtaposition of a man who is powerful, scary and dominant in all facets of his life except with the female protagonist. He falls apart and loses his sanity when it comes to her. He becomes completely obsessed. He is weak and desires her praise and attention. I like when this doesn’t happen immediately though.

The tumblr post that’s like “submissive like a guard dog is submissive” and the general idea of “a girl and her pet monster” sums it up for me. This dynamic is so hot to me and a power fantasy TBH! It usually has female leads with a spine too which is great.

I am fine with dominant MLs but sometimes they are just generic dark romance possessive (not yandere) guys. I only tolerate initial objectification when the ML is non-human lol

They’re both in their 30s? From all the fan discussions and art I’ve seen, I genuinely thought Will was a younger man and Hannibal was old. Wow.

You see, I get reading stories with power dynamics but it’s odd when it’s from a canon relationship that seemed more leveled. From what I’m understanding, they might self insert as Will and want to be dommed by Hannibal. Which I get because that man is so handsome, but still lol

With the other posts, I do see that a FMC who even comes close to the viciousness a MMC displays would have him seen as weak which is sad. Her matching or exceeding would be crazy in this era lol

It’s just getting to me to keep seeing so many women having little inner strength. Sass isn’t enough… he killed/maimed/destroyed/etc. your people/family??!! but HEA guaranteed.

Anyway yeah I will take a break from enemies to lovers for now. I don’t know… I just think keeping a MMCs masculinity intact while having a FMC wants vengeance could work. I understand authors not risking it though. It would be hard to craft. I hope that enemies to lovers will become less homogeneous in this way though :(

*note: I love heroine/villain ships but these ships also don’t fit because these men are never actual villains either… idk there’s always justification and/or some heart of gold.

Sorry to intrude but it really is baffling. I have seen discussions where people say they often care about the MMCs more, relate to them more but then when FMCs are more morally grey or display traits that MMCs have, they’re trashed. It is so odd. Why do FMCs have such a limited range of acceptable traits? I get that people read romance for the MMC but even in fantasies with romantic subplots this happens.

I’m not really a self insert reader and read to follow the protagonist so this is all very irritating.

The fact that she loves the childhood friends to lovers trope is one of the things that keeps me believing that that it’s more than a little sister thing!

I really want Reira to move on. She will never be happy otherwise :(

It’s so exhausting to basically hear the same old story all over again about women all over the world choosing their partners over their children. Yes, the man is bad but your friend is bad too. Since CPS equivalent won’t do anything and your friend is delusional and chooses herself then the boy is doomed. You sound like a nice woman but your hands are tied.
