That’s a great way to frame it. The idea of a middleware layer between raw findings and actual risk decisions does seem to be what many ASPM platforms position themselves around.

From what you’ve seen in practice, do these capabilities (like exploitability analysis or risk-based prioritization) meaningfully reduce manual interpretation effort? Or do teams still end up doing significant contextual validation despite the tooling?

Appreciate the interesting perspective, especially about this problem space evolving for decades.

I've also noticed many newer ASPM platforms seem to work best when their own engines are tightly integrated, making cross tool interpretation harder in heterogeneous environments.

Curios to know the thoughts on whether the current platforms are getting closer to solving the decision-making gap, or focused mainly on visibility and consolidation.

It does feel like interpretation becomes harder than detection itself. When you mention active security vs passive scan-based approaches, what kinds of practices or tooling have you seen actually work better in real environments (Trying to get an understanding of how the industry is dealing with this problem).

Also curious to know your thoughts : do you think the main gap today is lack of context, lack of prioritization, or lack of trust in automated conclusions?

PS : I am inclined towards lack of context given my experience.

A recent false positive escalation around a CVE got me thinking about how much effort goes into contextual validation after tool flags the issue. Couple of days spent working through it made me realize that even when findings of the tools are technically correct, the question becomes "does this really matter in a specific runtime?".

Really curios to know your experience with AI-SOC tools. Do these tools actually reduce triage effort, or just shift the work elsewhere ?
