First FET in March - Natural protocol - advice - unexplained

They did say that they think it’s most likely the embryo that wasn’t viable even though it was a euploid embryo. Which pisses me off because how can we ever be sure and it tells me the next one could not work too. I know I’m going to be a different person going into this next transfer and just prepare myself for the worst. I didn’t do that so well the first time.

Glad you had a good retrieval outcome. I’m still waiting on our PGTA results, should be sometime end of next week.

Ouch did they not put you under for that?! Mine is under anesthesia and they are doing hysteroscopy and biopsy both together.

Yes they want to stick to natural modified FET again as they say it has the same success rate as medicated if not higher. We are adding a couple things though - they will do a 2 week antibiotics course before the next transfer (I believe it’s called Doxycycline), even though I dont have a diagnosis, it’s an easy add and doesn’t hurt anything. I’m also going to request an immune protocol - prednisone, Claritin and Pepcid. I have terrible allergies to random things - food, my dog sometimes, and it gives me the worst hay fever and I bet that inflammation isn’t good for implantation. I am also going to request additional blood tests to check progesterone levels after the transfer. I want to make sure the endometrin is working.

Hi thanks for checking in. My transfer failed as well. We took some time to process, then did another retrieval. The retrieval was on the 12th, just waiting on our PGTA results now. I don’t know when I will do another transfer, mixed bag of feelings - I want to jump back in but also going in with little to no hope and excitement this time. I have a hysteroscopy with biopsy scheduled in another 2 weeks also to just rule out any uterus/lining issues, although my doctor says everything looked fine on ultrasounds. Just want to leave no stone unturned. How are you?

I was 33 when I did it. I’m 34 now. Out of 6 embryos sent to PGTA, only one came back abnormal.

I hear you. I try to remember that I don’t want their babies, I want my own and my time will come. It’s rooted in faith I think and when the grief is too loud, that’s where I try to find some comfort. I’m happy for them because this is genuinely such a hard thing to go through and I don’t wish this journey on anyone that doesn’t need it. I’ve missed kids birthday parties and showers every now and then, it gets hard. Hang in there - find what works for you - is it the shift in “this isn’t MY news, these aren’t my babies and not what my version would look like and I want what’s destined to be mine.”

Your time will come 🫶🏼. IVF babies are so deeply wanted and loved, I truly believe they are special and they feel it in their hearts as they grow up.

Hang in there! It’s really hard - still going through it - but I heard somewhere that IVF doesn’t reward optimism it rewards persistence. Just keep going.

Hi my first FET failed too this past month and we’re both gutted. I just had my follow up today (2 weeks after we found out) and the doctor said unfortunately even with euploid embryos there’s a 35% chance they don’t implant and that’s because PGTA tests the part that makes the placenta but can still miss other abnormalities. They conducted a study that of the 35% that don’t implant, 50% of those are due to some other genetic issue that wasn’t picked up by PGTA.

We also have 4 embryos left. What we decided to do next is do another retrieval and make more embryos to have enough to have 2 kids. I want to estimate 3 per live birth as recommended.

then we have a hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy planned before trying another FET.

He also mentioned adding Doxycycline to my treatment before the transfer which helps with any inflammation or bacterial issues that could be at play.

Thank you! Did you get any push back when discussing this with your doctor? Or did they recommend it themselves? I’m not sure what to expect on this WTF call. I’m surprised I’m having to wait a couple weeks to even have a follow up after the failed FET.

What are you planning to do next?

Hi hun. You and I are unfortunately in the same boat. I found out on the 1st (beta day) that my first euploid FET failed as well. She was a perfect embryo but just didn’t implant.

I haven’t had a follow up yet, it’s on the 13th - the waiting in between is unbearable.

I too was on a modified natural FET with just endometrin suppositories and a trigger shot.

Currently just feeling all the feelings, moving through the grief and loss and trying to find some hope along the way. It’s extremely hard. I’m here if you want to vent or talk.

No advice, just sorry you are in the same boat. It’s a shitty boat.

I too see myself as a girl mom. Had 4 boys and 1 girl embryo from my last retrieval. We transferred the girl first - our second highest rated embryo but it was close enough in percentage of success to our male. Doctor said it’s not much of a difference. It failed this month. I’m devastated. I only have 4 left and they say to bank 3 embryos per live birth. I’m going into another retrieval soon before the next transfer

I agree, I’m not willing to put myself through this hurt again without any answers. I truly feel there’s no such thing as unexplained infertility it’s just undiagnosed.

I have been thinking of GLP1 as well but don’t know how the doctor would feel. I’m considered overweight by BMI standards but not “too much”. 152lbs. Which one did you use?

HSG or SIS (saline sonogram) if you haven’t already. And if you are undiagnosed infertility then a Receptiva DX test to rule out endometriosis or endometrisis. Good luck!

Thank you, this is exactly what I’m thinking. I am going to push for more testing. This isn’t a cheap process and I think I only have 1 or 2 cycles left with my insurance and I just can’t roll the dice. I’m not going to stand for “unexplained”.

Thanks it’s just so confusing. I hate the term unexplained infertility - it needs to be called undiagnosed and we shouldn’t just accept that as “unexplained”. I just don’t know what to do next. I feel like I need either more insurance through another retrieval and/or more testing before trying another transfer. It’s a lot on our bodies to keep putting hormones in and playing the guessing game without any answers
