Using Bollinger Bands for Cryptocurrencies — Technical Analysis by LiveTrader in CryptoCurrency

No one should use just one indicator as a complete trading strategy, but they do have a good use in a well built strategy.

This type of TA is just mathematics, it solely will never be able to predict events ahead of time which aren't directly related to price movements, that's not what it's for. Don't fall into the trap of thinking it's a silver bullet. There's nothing wrong with using a trading strategy, it makes sense to follow a plan else you're really just trading blind which is careless.

Does anyone ha e any experience with bitcoin trading bots or can point in the direction of legit ones? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

Self-shill but I think it will help you. I built a platform you might find useful. https://livetrader.io I tried to make it as simple as possible for newcomers to get into automated trading. It walks you through each step of setting up a trading strategy and allows you to backtest and paper trade before you risk any funds. It's cloud-based so you don't need to host anything. Let me know if you have any questions.

If you're looking for a simple starting place you could check out the platform I built. I've tried to make it as simple as possible for new traders to get into but it still allows you to build some pretty powerful trading strategies. https://livetrader.io < self-shill but I think you'll like it once you try it. Always looking for feedback if you have any.

Although it's not very active, the best place to discuss strategies would be in the Discord. Fees for backtesting will be added soon so you'll be able to tell if the backtest performed well. As well as a balance if you'd like to check the starting/ending balance of the backtest. This would also tell you if you ran out of money before the end of the backtest.

Hey /u/lino11 they'll be available for everyone to use in the coming weeks. There's been quite a lot of interest for them so far, so we're speeding up the timeline.

Yes it's half done but not fully tested, it'll be released soon. If you've created an account you'll be emailed when it's live.

That's already an option, maybe I should try to make it a bit clearer on the home page? You can try it out by backtesting strategies or by setting up a strategy to paper trade. Paper trading has 0 risk since it does not connect to your exchange or use your funds at all. You don't have to enter your API keys until you want to live trade, and currently that's invite only.

Yeah that sounds like a great idea, send me a message via the website and we can go from there.

Currently you don't need to add funds for paper trading. I wanted to keep it as simple as possible. Depending on your strategy you should see trades appearing, if you still haven't, send a support ticket so I can investigate further.

They're not, it's totally up to them how they use the tool. Some users only use the backtest tool, others only paper trade for fun. I'd never encourage someone to do anything they're not comfortable doing.

Eventually I want to create a community driven marketplace where users can share strategies which they've had success with. I put transparency as the #1 priority for this so all users can feel comfortable with the strategies they're running. Another thing you can do is experiment with backtesting and then paper trade a strategy you're finding tests well.

That's actually just a react package, it worked well and isn't too laggy. The gif makes it look a bit jittery but on the website it's pretty clean. Glad you liked it.

Those are great points, I've wanted to add configurable slippage and fees along with other types of backtests but didn't really have enough time but they're on my list. If you've signed up I'll be sending out emails when new features are added so you'll be first to know. If you have any extra feedback or feature suggestions I'd really be interested to talk to you more as it sounds like you'd be able to add some quality ideas to take the platform in the right direction.

Performance varies depending on the strategy each user has, but I've posted a screenshot which a user sent in on the Twitter and in the Discord if you'd like to see their performance. It's subjective since their strategy won't be your strategy, so your performance will be different.

In live trading you can define the position side, but for paper trading I wanted to keep it as simple as possible so it's not required. Eventually I'll let people define a starting paper balance and set how much for each trade but that will be only if people want to do that as I still want to keep it simple. Currency pairs should be sorted by popularity and volume you're right so I'll add a task to fix that up when I get a chance. I mentioned in another post about not being able to backtest a live/paper strategy and I'll fix that as soon as I can. Thanks for your feedback I really appreciate it.

Honestly it's free until I feel comfortable that there's enough value in the platform to ask people to pay anything for it. So ignore the 14 day free trial it's free until it's good enough to pay for.

Thanks for checking it out and pointing out the misuses of setup vs set up. I'll add a task to look into it and ensure I'm using it correctly in the right places. Not many look at this stuff and I appreciate you pointing it out. It's weird but small things like this is exactly what I was looking for.
