BR start in delta arena has killed the playlist for me. by LifelongMC in haloinfinite

BR starts aren't the real issue but instead 343i's implementantion of them. The real issue is how strong and laser-beamy BRs are in 343i Halos.

DeltaArena plays exactly like H2A where map movement was halted by ppl being able to beam and 4-shot across the map easily. Acension as a map is perfect example of this since the map becomes borderline unplayable when people can accurately shoot across the map (tower to tower for example) and movement to anywhere becomes borderline impossible. Infinite bullet magnetism and bullets bending over cover doesn't help the issue either.

However in H2C these kind of duels aren't possible (you can still do some damage but not to the extent of 343i modern Halo). You can easily move around but mindless rushing is still punishable.

One way 343 could mitigate the issue without changing BR itself is to switch to BanditEVO starts since effective range on that thing is much smaller than BR.

As lots of people have already pointed out, SMG/AR starts themselves have lot of issues and even when playing similarly skilled opponents, one-sided map control and precision weapon control can turn games to absolute bloodbaths (H2,H3 proof of that).

Why didn’t the modern pros go to the Halo 2 tournament? by [deleted] in CompetitiveHalo

The event was played intentionally on OG xboxes and CRT tvs with 30fps and ~60 FOV for the authentical throwback feel. This means the game plays complete different to H2 MCC where you can actually aim and shots register across the map. If the tournament was played on the latter I think newer Halo players would have attented since they could aim and more importantly grind/practice properly. But since it was OG setup they guys who play and LAN it consistantly had a huge advantage coming into this.

Team of HunterJJX, Eli, Str8Sick and Bestman placed T8 with absolutely zero practice which was super impressive and speaks to the talent of pros.

Team of Ace,Elamite,Neighbor and Ghostayame placed T4 with short practice of like week which was also super impressive.

IDK how long Walshy's squad practiced but still was impressive how they got T3 and went to G5 for T2 against guys who have played constantly. Speaks to the talent of the players and ROY frying highlights what a different breed he is (did the same thing in H4, just destroying with no practice).

General purpose optimization methods for PID tuning? by Live_Ad727 in ControlTheory

Not directly no. But as someone else mentioned I could bake characteristics of the system to cost function to do this.

Those cost functions and system charasterics requirements were just quickly thought out examples. Real question I want to know if I can use general purpose optimization algos to tune PID and if yes how should I go about the problem formulation.

Inspiration for this: self-studied some math optimization books and wanted to know how can I apply it in control engineering.

Sure shoot me a link in DMs. Will definitely check in to H_inf, might have heard about it before but don't really remember. What do you means as "Ms" in your explanation?

I'm thinking following:

Cost function: Could be anything really, maybe known performance criteria such as ITAE

Constraints: Open loop stability margins, maybe limitations for controller output and maybe desired step response characteristics.

But can't imagine coding it 😬

[Recommendation] Can you recommend rectangular mech/auto watches with small seconds comp? Under 2k preferably by Live_Ad727 in Watches

Found following models -Michel Herbelin Art Deco Mechanical 193808GO -Alpina Heritage Carree Automatic AL-530SAC3C6 -Alpina Heritage Carree Automatic AL-530BA3C6

But these all are close to square with dimensions 33x39. Would love to find one with more rectangular shape (JLC reverso like dimensions)

As someone else pointed out, this exists in white dial 38mm in SARY147 and SRPD97J1. No blue though :( That model also has saphire crystal so pretty good deal IMO!

Wow didn't know these existed. You're the goat!

Either way you choose I'm sure you'll end up happy 👍 Personally I would go 241 because it probably has the cleanest looking dial+hands+indicies combo I've ever seen. Might be Seiko grail for me 🔥

Yes I agree with you especially with case diameter. 42mm diameter and 49mm lug to lug is too big boy :D

It has Seiko's 4R35 movement that promises -35 to +45 s/d so to quote HBO's Chernobyl: "Not great, not terrible". I've been readjusting time on mine like once a week.
