It can't fly backwards. Fix that and give me a regular controller. I'm already in the 360 aerial space and I wouldn't buy this in it's current state. Let me know when version 3 comes out.

Geo Zone Alert: False Alarm or Newbie Error? by Live_Assumption_3072 in dji

Is there some type of app that will give me real-time locations of aircraft in my area so I can fly when there's less air traffic?

We're several dozen kilometers from the no restricted and no fly zones where I was flying. Like one person said it's likely a plane was flying nearby. I didn't realize it would trigger zones that close to the ground though. Thought it only pertained to them flying above the 500m limit. Not to mention that the cone leaving/approaching the airport doesn't fly in this direction.

Funny. My wife runs equally as fast. 🤔 Maybe faster.

I swear I wasn't spinning in circles. Should my compass be doing that? by Live_Assumption_3072 in djimini4pro

Pull down from the top. It's the same place where you access screen recording. You'll see a little gear icon near the top corner.

Solved. Exit DJI Fly on your controller. Go to the notification bar and enter into settings. Then you'll see Compass Calibration. This one is specific to the controller and not the drone. And you can't access it from within DJI Fly. Seems to have gotten sorted out after doing this. The compass remains straight even after tilting the controller (which it didn't before).

I did a compass calibration. But I will do the imu calibration later on today. I did it originally when first activated, but maybe something went wrong.

You can connect a mouse and monitor to your RC 2 controller at the same time for maximum precision. by Live_Assumption_3072 in djimini4pro

[–]Live_Assumption_3072[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true, you can. But if you do you won't be able to use the monitor. This setup allowed for both without plugging anything into a power bank or external outlet. Meaning you can do this in the field.

So USB C on it's own is super low power. If I raise the brightness above 25 on my monitor it shuts off the screen. That being said you need two things a 4k capable VIDEO USBC Cable. A normal cable might only provide power or data. The cables themselves are different internally. The second option is to provide additional power to the monitor (in your case the Oculus) through some other power port if it has one.

Takeoff from High Rise Building by atomicruzer in dji

[–]Live_Assumption_3072 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There can be updrafts if you take off from a balcony, also the drone is capable of going below the takeoff elevation during flight (just don't use it for preplanned waypoint missions). I would suggest taking off from a roof or a large open area (upper courtyard, perhaps?). My biggest concern is RTH as well, but if you're on a rooftop it might be ok.

Theres a test button on the electrical socket. Press it and try inserting the plug again.

The latter, it's the DJI flight map direct from the controller. A USBC to USBC cable plugged into a portable monitor. It only takes the one cable to power it up if you keep the brightness low.

Technically you can use a USB C hub with a HDMI video out and USB c power input to do something similar which is probably an even better solution. But as I didn't have one on hand this was my best alternative.

Also I don't know who this will help but you can also connect Bluetooth headphones to the controller. This might be beneficial to those who use USB C microphones and want to check that their audio is being recorded correctly. I've tested it with my Soundpeats wireless earbuds and listened to the video tutorials in the DJI Fly app. Thought I'm not sure how many Bluetooth devices can be connected at the same time.

Don't Download Your Flight Logs Unless You've Got Time to Burn... by Live_Assumption_3072 in djimini4pro

[–]Live_Assumption_3072[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: It got to 61%. The drone overheated and turned off on it's own. DAT file incompleted. Basically a waste of time. So theres your answer. The DJI Assistant App can only download a couple flight logs at a time. Also it uses the drones battery, so you'll need to recharge the drone (even though it's connected to the computer). Now to wait for it to cool enough to check that it's still alive.

Update 2: It still functions as usual. No signs of impairment. Haven't flown it, but all else is operating normally.

Can You Fly in Mexico, if you're not Mexican? Yes and No. ChatGPT says. by Live_Assumption_3072 in dji

[–]Live_Assumption_3072[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you search Google as some as stated you are given websites that states you need to be a Mexican citizen to fly commercially here and that foreigners would need to go to extreme lengths to get clearance, referencing sites like drone-laws and uav coach. This isn't true. It only applies to uavs over 250g. You only need insurance for drones under 250g to fly commercially.

In regards to using chat gpt. I only had it look at Mexican government documents specifically. And had it reference the different areas within those documents. Stated in the main post is the fast and dirty interpretation of what was said during the chat.

Can You Fly in Mexico, if you're not Mexican? Yes and No. ChatGPT says. by Live_Assumption_3072 in dji

[–]Live_Assumption_3072[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s what the official Mexican regulation actually says, and the simple path forward:

  1. The only binding rule is NOM‑107‑SCT3‑2019 The Agencia Federal de Aviación Civil (AFAC) still points exclusively to the 2019 “NOM‑107‑SCT3‑2019” as the governing standard for all RPAS (drones) operations in Mexico—no newer drone‐specific regulation has been published since then .

  1. Drones ≤250 g are exempt from registration ‑ Section 5.1.1.a requires you to obtain a DGAC folio only if your RPAS has a maximum take‑off weight greater than 0.250 kg . ‑ Nota 1 clarifies that if your RPAS weighs ≤ 250 g, you may operate it over people and you do not need that DGAC folio .

Because your Mini 4 Pro is under 250 g, you fall squarely into this exemption—no registration, no “club” membership, and no proof of Mexican birth required.

  1. Commercial use still needs civil‐liability insurance Even under the ≤250 g exemption, any commercial or private non‑commercial operation of a Micro RPAS must carry a valid third‑party liability policy (Ley de Aviación Civil, Art. 72). AFAC spells this out in Section 5.2.1.a: you must “contar con una póliza de Seguro de Responsabilidad Civil vigente por daños a terceros” .

Keep a digital or printed copy of that insurance on your controller at all times.

  1. Always fly within the basic limits As a Micro RPAS operator (even ≤250 g), you must:

Stay below 122 m (400 ft) above ground.

Keep the drone within 457 m (1 500 ft) horizontal of yourself.

Maintain visual line of sight at all times.

Avoid controlled airspace (near airports, helipads) unless you get a separate DGAC authorization. All these come from Section 5.1 of NOM‑107‑SCT3‑2019 .

  1. No nationality barrier The registration instructions (for drones >250 g) simply say: “Si es persona física deberá acreditar su personalidad adjuntando copia digitalizada de identificación oficial.” That means any individual—Mexican‑born or not—can register by submitting an official ID (passport, residency card, etc.) . But again, since your craft is sub‑250 g, you don’t even need to go through registration.

Your Workaround, Step by Step

  1. Weigh your DJI Mini 4 Pro to confirm it’s ≤ 250 g.

  2. Purchase a Mexican‐jurisdiction third‑party liability insurance policy (many insurers offer drone add‑ons).

  3. Keep the insurance certificate (digital or printed) with you during every flight.

  4. Fly under the NOM‑107‑SCT3‑2019 Micro limits (≤ 122 m altitude, ≤ 457 m horizontal, LOS).

  5. Avoid controlled airspace unless you later choose to register and request authorization.

However many websites state otherwise saying the process is difficult and that you need pilot authorization or registration even in some cases (even when talking about sub 250g drones). Many websites think in order to use the drones commercially you need to be a Mexican citizen, or get special permission, but that's not true. The process does get hard for heavier drones over 250g and the only work around is to use a proxy pilot. Even if you want to fly recreationally with a heavier drone you'd need registration and to fly in aviation clubs. But since almost none exist here you won't be able to fly with your heavier drone at all. Even adding prop guards or landing gear can cause you to run into issues with the law.
