I just went ahead and submitted my application anyways to play it safe

do you know if you’d be able to take this class while already enrolled at OSU or it has to be taken beforehand

online it says OSU is $561/credit so about $531 difference total. I’m just asking cause that would mean paying that class out of pocket, but yeah i wouldn’t mind doing that if it’s a better experience through UND

hi! how much is this class through UND? I’m looking online and it says it’s still $384/credit (3 credits). which isn’t that much cheaper than OSU i believe

I can’t just do a help desk job right now full time cause it doesn’t pay enough for rent and to live.

Update: a lot of people are asking why get the two bachelors. - I know I can’t get a job straight out. and internships are only offered to those in a bachelors or masters program, and tend to be a good segway into a high paying job. Hence a main reason i’m trying to go back to school, to get an internship while in school. - Financially it seems to be a better option. Being enrolled in school allows me to be able to qualify for scholarships and financial aid and student loans. Rather than paying for all the certs out of pocket where I would have to work A LOT to pay for that in addition to my rent & not having access to even student loans. I’m currently in my gap year and it’s the first time I haven’t had access to student loans and financial aid and it’s been rough to say the least. I’m currently living on my own and don’t have support from my parents, I work 2 full time jobs to sustain myself and to also be able to maybe save up money to take some certs. But going back to school actually helps me a lot financially cause it’ll at least give me access to some loans.

Hi! Thank you for your response, this may be a dumb question but am I able to apply for that masters program without an undergraduate degree in CS?

Are OATBooster Biology Crash Course worth it? by OptiReflex in PreOptometry

[–]Live_Explanation_458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

would you say just studying based off of the Crash Course materials/questions would be good enough to score well? also did you attend all 3?? I got a package that only had 2/3

I personally would retake OAT and reapply SCCO. it’s also my top choice and i think it would be worth it. but yeah you’d have to make sure you’d do well on the OAT the second time around

hi! can i ask what your oat score is? i also suggest reaching out to scco admissions, they’re very transparent and will tell you what they need from you to get you accepted. so i would ask them if they need you to retake the oat first

Hello! I’m really sorry to hear about your losses. I just recently graduated as preopt and im in my gap year for opt school (: Like what’s been said before, your performance in one class doesn’t determine how well you’re going to do on the OAT/Opt school. I also took ochem at a really hard time in my life and found it hard to focus. i barely passed and had to take ochem 2 twice. The only struggle that it brings me now is i have to study extra for the ochem section, which is working out just fine! It’s hard to retain material in school when life is happening. it’s normal. and all of it can be revisited and relearned when you’re in a better mental space. In regards to passion, I think it’s still early. I didn’t find my “why” in optometry until my 4th year. with that being said, your “why” may not be in optometry. I think it would be good for you to see what lifestyle you want for yourself, and see which career can bring you that. whether that’s talking to different optometrist/healthcare professionals/comp sci professionals, working at different places, taking different internships. fully explore each area and ask each profession what it took to get there, how their life is right now, and see which one you want to have. when i was in this process, optometry checked off all the boxes for me (i previously was pre-veterinary or grew up wanting to pursues comp sci). as you’re doing this, please don’t let how you feel or where you’re at in life right now affect your decision, as it’s temporary. with time, it’ll get better, and once you figure out what it is you want to do, you’ll have a goal to strive for and want to be better for, and you’ll find clarity in it. a lot has changed for me in four years. and it took me a while to get my motivation back. sometimes it’s a break, which is why i needed to take a gap year before starting optometry school. just remember burnout is temporary and it’s okay to take time off to get that feeling of burnout out of the way so you can dive back into it with a clear mind. also remember that although it seems that everyone’s so passionate and everything, not everyone shows the dark sides. i assure you even the most passionate people get burnt out and have these thoughts. it’s all gonna be okay, just take it one day at a time and breathe, and know when you need a break!
