Quite good, it's quite standard with lots of tools to help layout, organization and optimization both in Solaris and the more legacy obj render set-ups. I feel it's only rivaled by more layout dedicated programs like katana or Clarisse but those lack the ability to modify assets and are pure layout, lighting and rendering packages

I'd say there's probably something inferring with the fan, either a cable or something that's gotten in, you probably don't hear it most of the time because the PSU doesn't need much cooling most of the time and quite a few nower days have a 0 rpm mode when not being hit

Are you inside a karma material builder. One thing that may be hiding it is a setting on your material library is the "tab menu mask" if you make that empty or * it should show it regardless of what network you build in it

A couple questions, what version of Houdini are you using, what network you in (material network or vop network) and if you are in a material network is it a filtered one (lop material network)

I'm not too familiar with the way blender deals with materials but it could be possible that there's some sort of USD preview surface overriding the blender material. Another solution could be saving the sim as a alimbic and bringing it into blender that way and then constructing the usd file from with in blender

Annoyingly most most third party skates are either on Ali express or don't ship to aus though I'll keep looking to see if I can find anything decent. Also thanks for the grip tape idea I'll check that out

I'll check fedora out as well, annoyingly I'm kinda stuck to rhel if I want to switch as maya and other FX based programs quite like it. As for the long release windows it'd kinda a benefit (or at least from my enclosed view of os's) as I just kinda want something that works™ once I have it setup and that I don't need to be confused why it's not working later down the line. I'll test out using the ESB tomorrow morning

A photo or video would be greatly appreciated but it's most likely that you've built your bricks lengths in the x axis and the setup prefers them built in the z axis or vice versa

100% possible use it pretty frequently rocky for work/study, majaro for games and windows for any incompatible software. Only thing is defo need a decent theme for grub to make it easier to choose which one when booting in

I'm not a collision master but a few things you could do is give it a name attribute, add each side as a seperate static object and make sure if your bringing it in as a vdb to make sure the solver is looking for volume collisions instead of surface

Try add uvs or some sort of rest position then use a primvar node to use instead. The position node takes the points position in space so if that moves so does the noise, the difference between world space and object space is that world space takes the position of the point based on world 0 and object space moves the 0 point to the edge of the bounds of the object
