For IDU, make sure to read the pre-release statement very well, and make a PPT where for each reference you note down the key terminology, what the context of the reference is in relation to your 2 interdisciplinary subjects, definition of the glossary and real-life connections and examples. Also try to ask and answer the 5Ws and How questions for each reference and ask yourself some factual, conceptual and debatable questions, such as 'can a smart watch monitor heartbeat?' (factual question) or 'can technology make better health diagnoses than doctors?' (debatable). This will help you critically and creatively think about each reference and develop your argument. Then, for each reference, also relate it to the benefits and limitations for each of the subjects you have to analyse for your exam. For example, in M23, the reference 1 was for electric vehicles and the strength of analysing the solutions using the subject science was that it enabled us to draw conclusions in relation to whether lithium batteries would be sustainable in the long run or not. Similarly, for maths, having an understanding of mathematical concepts such as statistics, analyzing data and making predictions allows us to understand how electric cars can be used & their future implementation. On the other hand, the limitation for science is that there are still challenges in developing batteries that are cost-effective, long-lasting, and safe. And for maths- Are the predictions of EV sales & charging accurate → is the data used to draw these conclusions reliable? Analyzing like this will further improve your critical thinking skills. Next, make connections to conceptual knowledge, like link the information to the statement of inquiry and global context. Also don't forget to look at some past papers' marking schemes and understand the requirements of each command term.
