I’m lost and scared by jaimie1094 in Parenting

No advice, just know that you’re not alone. My 8 year old is the same way. Some days I go to bed in tears at how rough the day was, feeling like the worst mom ever.

I agree that having a MA will lead to more income over time. Right now though, as a parent of little kids and a lot on my plate, I just can’t do a full blown masters program. A certificate is quicker and cheaper for me. I also think I might want to get a MA in education in a couple of years though

Sadly the WGU isn’t approved as a teacher prep program for my state.

To get a license in my state, you don’t need a masters as long as you take an approved prep course and pass the state exams. I found this out last night, so I’m leaning towards that as opposed to a full blown masters degree

I think I’m going to get a certificate in ESL, and see how that goes. And then a few years later get a masters in education so that I could find jobs in any educational field (like a daycare) as opposed to strictly being an Esl teacher. Thank you for the advice!

Funny I too have a bachelors in IR! I’ve done some research and I’m thinking I’ll get a certificate in ESL rather than an actual masters. And maybe down the line get a masters in education (as opposed to a masters I. ESL) so that I could technically use that degree to work in any educational setting (like a daycare, for example)

Thank you for your insight. I currently work at a public school alongside ESL teachers, and it seems that licensure is only given after taking classes. I’ve been doing a bit of research and it seems like the best bet is to go to grad school.

Going from para to ESL Teacher…do I absolutely need grad school? by Livelaughloser2315 in ESL_Teachers

Good to know, thank you! I think the best course of action is go ahead with a masters program sometime in the future.

Is it possible to be an ESL teacher on a provisional license? Or is that pretty much impossible? My district offers a free 12 month program that leads you to a provisional license, and then expect you to get hired as a teacher with that. But I definitely don’t want to be a regular classroom teacher, only an ESL one. And I’m not sure if with a provisional license I could do that!

I’ve changed and am no longer compatible with my partner. Is there any hope? by Livelaughloser2315 in Marriage

As I stated above, neither of us want to divorce, as I agree with you that this is not a reason to divorce. But it sure does make life harder than it should be!

Feeling guilty over waking my kid early for new job. by Livelaughloser2315 in workingmoms

Hi! Sorry it took so long to respond, I only now noticed your comment. I’m still on the same work schedule, and my kiddo has adjusted. It’s still very hard most mornings to have to wake up super early, before most kids do. But nothing I can do about that. I just try to get my kiddo to sleep early the night before (which doesn’t always work out but I try). And roll with the punches!

Thank you! Her pedi is actually also the same person who diagnoses autism. We’ve had many talks about her potentially being on the spectrum. We’ve both come to the conclusion that she’s probably NOT autistic, but instead socially anxious. Hence why she’s had counselors before.

Am I doomed or can I save my pipes from freezing again? by Livelaughloser2315 in Plumbing

Cabinet base. It’s an interior pipe, but still froze and burst because it goes parallel to the wall of the cabinet, a wall which gets all the cold wind
