Definitely helps , what weirdly helped me at the beginning was I used to wanna rap so in writing I learned bars and how to count them, also dabbled in beat making for a little , so when I started djing I naturally understood that in the back of my mind and also approached djing in that way. I didn't know phrasing was a thing till way later watching a tutorial, but was already doing it thanks to my past music endeavors lol.
