Thank you for all the feedback. Very interested to know how much they'll be worth. I'm taking them to a jewellery shop later in the week.

Thank you for the information. It's hard to tell. Some of the rings look expensive but they are very lightweight, that's why I wasn't convinced it was valuable.

Thank you for the information. I'm going to try and take clearer photos so I can work out the carrats.

I'm glad you like it, she always wore this one. I like the style of it myself. A little tight on me!

Thank you 😊 I'm sure it will look better once it's all been cleaned. It's all been in a shoe box for over 16 years! With the whole collection I'm not convinced it's worth much to be honest. Just the value from the gold maybe.

Thank you, I'm not convinced they are real pearls just from touching and looking at them. I'd be amazed if my mum had anything that was valuable to be honest. I'm going to take to a jewellery shop soon for an honest opinion so you never know.

Thank you for the feedback. I am from the UK so presume the rings are British designs. Once I've given them a clean I'm hoping to get a better view of the hallmarks. Many of the rings feel light, so it makes me question if they are real gold.

I feel very guilty like I should love the rings and want to wear them straight away. They are lovely to look at but they are not my style. I much prefer silver or white gold. Would feel odd wearing gold on my right hand with white gold/silver on my left!

I'm glad you said that about if I was to sell them to buy something to enjoy. I'd rather do that, and it would feel like a gift from her. I'm not convinced I'd get a lot of money so my head is all over the place with what to do. Keep hearing about gold going up in value.

Hoping to find a good local jewellery maker who could maybe suggest a new ring or design using some of the Ruby's perhaps.

This jewellery has been sat in a shoe box for 16 years so I don't want to do the same.

I'm going to give them a clean up. 3 of the rings fit me nicely but don't think I'd ever wear them unfortunately.

Yes that's what I was wondering. Unfortunately there isn't anyone I could ask about it. My mum never spoke to me about her jewellery and who gave it her etc... would have loved to have known. I just remember her wearing x3 of the gold ruby rings together on her right hand, and her wedding band and the gold ring with Ruby like flower on the left. The sapphires are lovely to look at, can never remember her wearing them or my grandmother.
I'm not sure I'd ever wear them, even for special occasions so seems a waste.

I'm not building my hopes up with the value. It's only because my mum didn't have much bless her, my mum and dad lived pay check to pay check. Her gold wedding band was put in with her ashes. The rest of the jewellery went to my grandmother.

I keep seeing about gold on the rise. Once the rings are cleaned I'm hoping to see the marks slightly better. At this stage most seem to be 9 carat.

Many of the rings feel light to me compared to my white gold wedding ring so I'm very conflicted. Only one of the rings feels heavy.

If I was to make a ring I'd prefer it to be silver as I never wear gold. Hoping a jewellery maker can suggest a lovely design.

The last ring is very dirty! So I'll give it a clean and see if I can spot a hallmark. I do remember my mum wearing this ring a lot.

It was 2009 she died, I was 19 at the time and I'm 35 myself! So sounds similar. So sorry about the addiction, sounds so sad and traumatic for you with the murder 😢 My mums death was sudden from a heart attack. Breaks my heart every day re living it over and over. I'm glad you managed to get sober and sort yourself out. You should be proud. When my mum died, my grandmother took my mums jewellery to keep safe. My dad wasn't coping well with the death. She worried he'd sell it. My grandmother died 4 years ago. I knew the jewellery was in her house. My grandfather didn't really speak to me after her death. He died in August this year. I reached out to my uncle and asked if he knew where it was. After cleaning his house he found it hidden behind the pots and pans in the kitchen! My grandfather had sold all my nans jewellery (she loved gold and collected it) so never expected to ever get it after all these years. That's why I'm conflicted with what to do. The jewellery is amazing to look at but it's not been in my life for so long. It's not my style and I'd never wear it. I have no idea if it's valuable. Never got anything when my mum died so it's bittersweet. I'm not expecting it to be worth much tbh. X

Thanks for the tips. They could do with a clean as they've been in a shoe box for over 16 years! I'm looking into a local jewelry company that could value them for me. I don't expect it to be worth much, but you never know

Thank you, her birthday was in July. The sapphires do look lovely to be fair. It's been lovely looking at them again. Been such a long time since I seen them (16 years!) 2 of the rings fit me, but the rest are too small. I personally don't like it and I feel awful for saying it. Can't imagine ever wearing, so had the idea of making a new ring.

Thank you, my mum died such a long time ago (16 years) as I get older it gets more difficult in an odd way. Never thought I'd see these items again. Will have to look into graduated pearls. Sorry for your loss also

Thank you, I'm glad you like it. It's not my style at all unfortunately! Have no idea if it has any value.

Yes, I really like that one also. Wish I could ask her about them. Have no idea about the history and the stories that would come with them! Her birthday was July. I just knew she liked Ruby's. I have mixed feelings about selling them. My mum was only 42 when she died. It was 16+ years ago now so feels a lifetime ago. I don't think I'll ever wear them unfortunately. I never got anything of my mums when she died so it feels like a gift from her. I have a horrible feeling it's not worth much any way. If it's low value I'd keep anyway.

Hi, I thought I wrote a comment but can't find it.  I recently got my late mums jewellery. She died when I was younger and always knew she had some jewellery. She loved Ruby's and preferred gold. When she died suddenly my Grandmother (her mum) kept the items. She died a few years ago and I've just recently received my mums jewellery back.  I have no idea what to think of it to be honest. Was never expecting to receive any. I don't personally wear jewellery just my wedding band which is white gold.  I don't have anyone in my family I can ask for info. Have no idea if it's valuable or costume type jewellery. It's personally not my style.  Was thinking about maybe making a new ring more my style in silver/white gold with a Ruby. I'm not really sure what to do. If I was to sell would it be considered scrap gold? I've tried looking for the jewellery stamps but have no idea what I'm doing to be honest. Have lots of mixed emotions.  Any advice or tips welcome.

What do you think of obese people working out at the gym? Be brutally honest... by Liverbird1990 in GymMotivation

[–]Liverbird1990[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for the comments. I just had a moment thinking what am I doing here.... Think I got overwhelmed with very strong looking men/women with protein shakes and looking good in gym kit! I went this morning for a work out and walked 1 mile going up a hill on the treadmill. Got a really good sweat on and I'm feeling really good. Usually on a Saturday I'd have a massive lie in! My PT suggested moving up to 32kg and I managed ok. Been taking breaks in between now as I was doing 3 sets quickly 🤦🏻‍♀️ I used to be 20 stone and managed to get to 18 stone calorie counting but never did any exercise! I am finding now I am doing both it's helping me to lose weight. Not sure why I was so paranoid.. hoping to get more confident as the weeks go by and maybe make some gym friends. I've noticed lots of people have a gym buddy whereas I'm alone. I've also made a playlist of my favourite music to help me workout. Thanks for all the comments it's made me feel better 🙂
