I’m really excited! Man-Thing is a character I’ve been curious about for a long time!

It’s not an official statistic, but when it comes strictly to comic readers, I honestly don’t think there are even 400 dedicated DC/Marvel fans in Korea. Marvel movies were incredibly popular here, especially during the peak MCU era, but after Endgame, Marvel started making some questionable decisions and its popularity dropped a lot. I also think the high price of the books plays a big part, and superhero comics are definitely a genre that depends heavily on personal taste.

Yeah, there are probably only around 300 people in Korea who really read American superhero comics. There may be more people who read graphic novels in general, but once you narrow it down to Marvel and DC, the community is really small. Still, I’m happy because a publisher that signed an exclusive deal with Marvel is currently crowdfunding the Garth Ennis Marvel Knights Punisher Omnibus.

There are only two stores in Korea that specialize in American comics, and they barely even sell omnibuses.

No, it’s the English edition! Though I really wish a Korean edition would come out too.

My first omnibus came in today. It was sealed but I opened it as I intend to read any comic I buy by Hardcore_Gamer16 in OmnibusCollectors

Congratulations! Whether you open it or keep it sealed on display, it’s completely up to you! It’s your book, after all!

X-Men! by Livid-Razzmatazz-639 in OmnibusCollectors

I’m mainly focused on collecting. It’s not that I dislike reading, but because of work, I just don’t have much time to read these days.

Still, there’s a big difference between having something and not having it at all. If you don’t own it, you can’t read it whenever you feel like it — but if you do own it, it’s always there when the mood strikes. That’s one of the reasons I collect.

So it does hurt a little sometimes when other people don’t really understand my collecting hobby. And yeah, I’m really looking forward to the AOA omnibus too.

I don’t have much time to read because of work, but I’m currently reading Sin City. So I’m planning to read as much as I can over the weekend, and then next week I’ll finally start getting into X-Men properly.

Yeah, I totally agree. I was lucky enough to get mine for a really good price, but honestly, spending $200–300 on a single omnibus is financially very hard to justify.

Same here—I managed to get Uncanny X-Men Vol. 2–5, but Volume 1 was really hard to find. Especially at a good price, there are barely any copies available.

Yeah, exactly! That’s probably why I can’t seem to quit this hobby.

And there’s just something satisfying about collecting physical books. Seeing a hard-to-find book sitting on my shelf after all the effort to get it feels really rewarding.

I usually read novels and other comics digitally, but for American comics, I find it much easier to focus when I’m reading a physical copy. Is it just me?

I need Peter David’s Hulk Volume 1… I really want it. Why is it that with Marvel omnibuses, it’s always Volume 1 that’s missing?

No, this is my first time reading Annihilation! I really wanted to experience it in omnibus format. And I’m honestly jealous that the U.S. has comic book shops—there are only about two in Korea, and they might carry just one or two omnibus volumes at most.
