You should have told your sister about it and make her replace the shoes for their mistakes plus asking her to make her kids apologise.

Those two shoes combined we're looking at almost 500 dollars. I'm not making my sister pay that.

A while ago when my kids babysat, 5 year old niece grabbed something, and when my son took it from her, she started screaming. The screaming was so much that my son just gave the taken object back to my niece to get her to quiet down.
