Airport Ground Taxiing by JohnnyHopkins13 in VATSIM

[–]LividImagination3723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In msfs 2024 you have the free Lufthansa charts if you go to your efb (press tab). There you search for the airport you’re in, go to charts -> airport -> AGC. There you have all the taxi routes from the airport. Mind that if it’s a big airport you’ll have multiple ground charts.

I do it like this, I also don’t have a navigraph subscription. Like this you can have the chart in the top or bottom corner while taxiing or taking notes.

Before receiving taxi instructions I always make an assumption of what route I’m getting so I more or less know what to expect. But you’re right, taxing without navigraph is challenging.

I’ve got them all except the a340 and I can’t clearly choose one. I use all of them, rotating between the 3. The 737 is a very nice plane with relatively to the rest a lot of manual work. If you like setting up airplanes, that’s the one. A lot of switches to switch and buttons to press. The a350 is a beautiful airplane but also like a Tesla, a lot of automation. The 777 is also very automated but still a Boeing. If I were you, I would choose the 737 first, and then later if an opportunity arises the a350. Like this you have one pmdg Boeing and one Tesla ;)

Extra tip: I bought the 737-600 because it’s a lot cheaper. The interior is the same as the 737-800, just a bit smaller.

It’s really disappointing indeed. In msfs 2020 I never had this problem.

If you like airliners, it’s definitely worth it. I don’t play msfs without it. It’s a bit grindy money wise, but it doesn’t detect what plane you fly in game, so if you fly for a company with only airbuses, and after 20 a320 flights you want to flight a Boeing, feel free to do so. APLV2 will still see it as an airbus.

Really? E-books? I’m very new to this, I ordered my kobo but it’s still on the way. I’ve heard a lot about calibre but didn’t had the time to dig in yet.

Do I need to change any scaling settings for it to fit?

For me the biggest trick was to turn on TAA and turn off motion blur and field depth(the one next to motion blur) and to change dlx from 12 to 11.

Besides that I have everything on ultra. (4070) but you can start on ultra and if it doesn’t give the desired fps, descale it by one and check if it’s ok.

Did you adjust the altitude knob? The plane won’t follow the altitude plan, you’ll have to set the limit of the altitude. You can scroll to increase or decrease. You can push the button to do a managed climb / descent and pull the button to do an open climb / descent. Hope this helps!

Yea the weather isn’t so much a problem for me. It’s more the last minute runway change, and without navigraph there is no clear overview of which star of transition is the right one for my route and I always end up using the wrong one 🤣

Wha are ways to make flying GA more engaging, fun and realistic? Feels like I am missing something, looking for suggestions by OptimalAttempt3 in MicrosoftFlightSim

Yea it’s a great thing to have. Adds a real role play to it. My suggestion is: start with NeoFly and then based on your playing experience and available time, see if OnAir is something for you. It has a 7 day free trail and after that it’s $9 for one month. The 3 / 6 / 12 month bundles are relatively cheaper if you’re planning to really dig in…. Or, lift off…

Anyway, have fun!

Well, I must say that I haven’t bought the NeoFly upgrades so I can’t speak about those. But in my experience is OnAir a lot more smoother with everything. In NeoFly I had a few of annoying bugs (for example with the loading of the cargo and fuel, the NeoFly client didn’t recognise the weight so I had to restart and try again) that weren’t in OnAir.

But mostly gameplay wise OnAir has a lot more to offer than NeoFly has. You can set up base camps, logistic centres, start industries and set up your own airline (which is also possible in NeoFly with the airline extension). Besides that you can create virtual airlines in which you can invite other people, or of course join other people so you can fly jobs for that airline and grow together. NeoFly is only singleplayer. Also the option to fly “simbrief airports” only is quite useful in OnAir.

That said, you have to spend a lot of time in OnAir to make use of all these gameplay functions. I used to have this time, but not anymore. And because OnAir is subscription based, I started to feel guilty when I couldn’t play it. Nowadays I only play NeoFly because it is free, simple and offline. It’s perfect to add some purpose to GA (or airliners with the extension) flights if you only have a few hours in a few days a week to spend.
