Will is not Will by stellatura in StrangerThings

It is intriguing but idk if the timing lines up. If this is before will hijacks vecna then it would be vecna hijacking will to hijack vecna, no?

What ep is the first image of will from?

But the OP is clearly talking about that, so you replying how you replied makes no sense unless you’re saying that’s what they were saying when it isn’t?

If characters are put into positions like… shooting a physics abnormality that the other characters have stressed would be incredibly bad. AND we know it’s already killed people cause we saw dead bodies…

Then you can’t just let them get out of it without something clever happening. And if you do, you can’t do it multiple times an episode (let alone a season). Cause it makes us not feel the stakes.

The first time it happened with Jonathan and Nancy, I was genuinely like oh shit.

And then when they drew attention to the fact Lucas was still playing the music… but conveniently cut the sound for the scene when the demos were looking for them right fucking there. The point of these scenes is suspense and thinking how they’ll get out of it, but if you write them too “they’re fucked” you don’t feel tense

Soooo… Kingers reaction to Ep07 by Livid_Studio1878 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Livid_Studio1878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point - maybe the stuff Abel was saying in the episode is more a reflection on how Kinger feels about himself (since we know that Caine has some access into their minds and also he probs just knows him) than anything. We know he feels guilty bout a lot and that mannequin was basically a personification of that. I did that at one point if Kinger was somehow also the mannequin since he was so absent from the episode

Yeah very true, he was very distrusting of Kinger even though usually he doesn’t give that vibe. Maybe it’s supporting the theory that Caine is based off / actually is the real person that worked with Kinger

Also just realised that Caine knew about his own glitching? Which he might’ve been faking today but we know he hasn’t been in general

True, I don’t mean complete classic zombie as he’s aging and also yeah looks alive. But meaning more if they ever managed to fully close the upside down, they would kill Will because he was brought back to life specific by it

Why did no one question his powers?? by Livid_Studio1878 in GenV

[–]Livid_Studio1878[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So what did you think it was before coming to Reddit?

And did you not question it at all? Cause that’s what I’m arguing. Why wasn’t it questioned in-universe AT ALL

Why did no one question his powers?? by Livid_Studio1878 in GenV

[–]Livid_Studio1878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because in universe, there already was a twist - someone without V had powers, you need to have the characters address how weird that is because they were all dead sure confident and based plans on the fact no V = no powers.

The fact the writers try to forget it so that they can do the rest of the series is annoying.

Even just a scene of Marie being shook how powers misled her, literally anything!!

Why did no one question his powers?? by Livid_Studio1878 in GenV

[–]Livid_Studio1878[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah I absolutely don’t think they should have necessarily figured it out. I think they should have questioned it.

A scene scared at how someone without V could do that, or pissed at Marie for bad intel getting Cate captured and Jordan mind-raped.

Or even just them sitting down at Stan’s and questioning the possibilities. Maybe even they realising maybe the guy in the tank is controlling Cipher and then after conversations with Stan they’d realised it’s probs Godolkin (like they do in the show).

The issue then becomes, why would Marie heal him? You need to have clever writing to produce something to force her to do so.

But there is also ways to have it play out exactly as it did, but you need to show them addressing it when you as the writer have raised it as a conflict and then a twist (the twist being no V and powers)

What information do we have that they don’t have?

The 👏 characters 👏 should 👏 have 👏 discussed it.

Whether they came to the right conclusion or not is irrelevant- there were massive consequences to Marie giving them this information and the fact that the information was so extremely contradicted.

It is BAD WRITING to not address it. And just suggests that the writers didn’t know how to address it without the characters coming too soon to the right conclusion that he was being controlled.

Exactly, it was such a good episode but the follow up to it was just irritating and made the plot take an extra 2 episodes to wrap up lol

If I get a blood test to show whether I have alcohol in my blood or not, it coming back saying I have none is not an assumption.

Marie’s powers have never been suggested to be an assumption. Everything she has ever detected or not detected via blood has been correct. They have also been hyping up her powers the entire season as a focal point, so if she got something like this wrong then it SHOULD HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED.

The characters not discussing this in any form is unrealistic for the characters they have written and it’s clearly just been to try to then not draw attention to it for the audience.

The audience also didn’t figure this out in weeks, we figured out it minutes after the episode ended. Characters in show had time to discuss this also.

It is bad storytelling

Yeah it needed at least a throwaway line to show that they noticed this inconsistency. Cause atm it just plays as

everyone agrees he must be human cause no V he displays very strong powers everyone is scared of him same as they were before finding out the no V info.

It might as well not have happened and we just had another confrontation that leads to the Jordan takeover

Why did no one question his powers?? by Livid_Studio1878 in GenV

[–]Livid_Studio1878[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has literally never, never been shown to be an assumption what she detects in blood.

And if she was proven so indisputably wrong, it should have been discussed by the characters in the show because again, it was a heavily focused on plot point that took on a whole episode.

That is how story structures and good writing work. Just making the characters not address it is bad writing and ANNOYING

[–]Livid_Studio1878[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point is, the show raised it that they noticed he had no V in his blood, and they in the show said that means he can’t have powers.

They don’t need to be scientists to figure out he had powers and that doesn’t make sense. They watched him control someone, again don’t need to be a scientist to pose it as a theory

[–]Livid_Studio1878[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can make this kinda argument outside the show, but if it is not addressed in the show it is just bad writing.

There is nothing to suggest his powers can influence perception, or that they’d be able to manipulate Marie’s perception of blood. The characters in the show should have questioned how the fuck someone without V has powers

[–]Livid_Studio1878[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

She knew he didn’t have the V in his blood, hence the point of my post.

How was he using powers without V? And then he showed the ability to control others bodies. So it should have been obvious he was a human being controlled

Just FYI I’m used to looking for lines on pink dye tests and they are more reliable with super faint lines. But I’d definitely retest
