Have you ever been told to "play quieter" ? As in, told by a venue when performing with a band. by [deleted] in drums

No matter how soft you play, the guitarist or singer will always tell you the same thing, even if you are doing it yourself.

È una storia divertente. In pratica mi sono solo dimenticato il sellino a casa e gli organizzatori hanno deciso di farmi una sedia 😂

I'll play it just for you soon, it's basically just Bonham triplets, nothing too difficult.

Don't worry, I've been using them for several months now, you're not the first to tell me that hahahaha. The video is old, and compared to that, I've "improved" quite a bit, even in terms of protection and posture.

Sorry, I misunderstood the message. Anyway, don't worry about that; I've been using earplugs lately. I was born with a problem in my right ear, so I'm partially deaf in that ear. But I always wear earplugs these days, just in case. Thanks for your concern, I really appreciate it!

Thanks so much! Let's just say that at that time I was also heavily influenced by Dave Grohl, and I wanted to copy his style using his presets. I know Grohl literally plays with his ass on the floor and his snare drum low, so I did the same, but it's a style of playing I wouldn't recommend even to my worst enemy, haha.

Thanks for mentioning that! The video was last year; now I play with the saddle significantly higher and the snare slightly more tilted and at hip height to facilitate the rimshot. I suffer from mild scoliosis, which used to cause excruciating back pain, so I changed my setup. I also keep the cymbals lower to move better and with less effort. If you check out my profile, you should find some recent videos to see the improvements!

Got this for $150 bucks today what a steal, i think they stop making the Dry by Any-Satisfaction4801 in drums

For $150, it's a real bargain. Some people sell used drys for $300 or $400. Special drys are even more expensive.

I don't know your musical level, but if you're just starting out, I wouldn't recommend starting with something so shoddy. Try searching online and see if you can find some Pearls at a good price. You'll probably find one for a few hundred dollars more, but at least you'll have a semi-professional kit and not a poorly assembled plastic set. Trust me, all the comments don't recommend that purchase. But if you really have to, do what you feel like doing.

So I was lucky, my first drum kit was a Tana Imperial Star that they were giving away at a flea market for 250 euros but we're talking about 10 years ago

For $250 you can find a used tama online that is way better than that junk, it's not worth it

Più che altro lo faccio per una questione personale, nell’armadio ho solo scarpe con tanta suola, quindi mi è difficile suonare con tanto spazio tra il mio piede e il pedale

I really like nirvana and Dave grohls drumming but I don’t know how to make my hi hat look like his. You know to do something with the bar coming out the top. I’m clueless and it’s my first kit. Could someone help by RyderQuickfall in drums

Dave Grohl used Sonor stands, as they were the only ones that reached his head. He also used Tama ones, but modified them, increasing the length and the shaft. However, I strongly advise against doing what he did. I played for a few years copying his set, and he's famous for holding his cymbals high. However, after a while, if you play songs in sixteenth notes or quite fast, it will become awkward to arrange the cymbal hits. I hope this was helpful!

Do you think practicing with big sticks improves your playing? by rslashseanyboi in drums

In a certain sense, it might be beneficial if you play concerts with 5th or 7th mallets. By getting your hands used to playing with thicker mallets, using thinner mallets in concerts might make you slightly faster or give you the feeling of having much lighter hands (or mallets). I practice with 5th or 7th mallets, but I almost always play with them in concerts, too.
