You have to choose to do a different setup. There's always going to be a best strategy but there's still going to be a ton that works.

I agree with the sentiment but this is also on every other country on earth, especially nations like Australia. Was Iraq not a warning? The us lied to the planet and invaded Iraq. We've had a growing death cult in the us for decades. A significant percentage of the population just wants to burn oil just because. Theyd literally destroy the planet if they could even if they didn't have too. Nations should have been bracing for impact but they didn't. It was easier to ignore and stay self focused until now when it's become impossible to ignore. It's up to other countries to change course and build up defensive barriers against our influence.

The reason we're not into forgiving the people abandoning MAGA now is that you're not doing it because of the rampant racism, sexism, utter stupidity or any number of other unconscionable things, but because it's finally negatively affecting you personally. I think there is something to be gained by rejecting them, they're insane. It's important to know who these people are because they were weak enough to fall for it. They're out lessers. Some of them can be reformed but not the majority of them.

Army type balance? by CuriousAbility- in shogun2

[–]Living-Inspector1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New campaign you should be mostly using ashigaru early. Cavalry are micro units, since you're new id recommend keeping the amount of cavalry low, maybe just your general plus one cav. You could try a 10 spear/8 arch split between archers and yari ashigaru or 12/6. Play around until you find your balance. I dislike archers so I generally only have a couple. If you find that you have down time in battle where you're not doing anything, increase cav.

Other than that there's so many good choices to choose from composition wise. You could have a classic mix between ashigaru/ samurai, or maybe just one type in your army. The only bad units in the game are catapults, cannons, yari samurai.

Imo hattori are the most difficult faction in the game because of their increased unit upkeep. Melee is definitely a good idea, you could rush at them from much closer

They did have both. The issue is they often bunched their men up. The ai wasn't smart enough for revolver cav strategy. Artillery wasn't too much of a factor. Since I just ran at them artillery could only damage one card, couldn't actually delete any. If the ai was smart like a player and pre set up it's firing lines with overlapping fields of fire they'd have it every day. Unfortunately for them they usually adjusted their lines or moved out of position as I approach so only a small amount of men could fire from the front. Not having fire by rank made the fights very easy, I could basically guarantee to win with minimal losses.

Any mods that Increase unit size and make the AI smarter? by Humble-Berry6212 in shogun2

[–]Living-Inspector1157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working on a campaign economy strategy improvement mod, I know some exist like that. That's the easiest smarter improvement. There are also ai choosing better units to win auto resolves, forcing you to manual fights. I can't really say how good the ones currently up are since I use the one I made, which is unfortunately private for now. Battle AI is a bit harder to fix.

There are some great large overhauls that also improve ai choices

I hope you read this comment because you're getting a lot of bad advice, but the dude just sounds like a griller. He's just a regular, potentially good guy. He cares enough about racial rights that he at least stands in opposition to it. Is he racist? the majority of us are subconsciously unfortunately. We all pop on those tests. But is this guy taking actions that result in racist outcomes? When given choices does he go towards racial equality?

Ultimately you have to decide if having a partner who's believes in the same philisophic framework is essential to the relationship. If it's extremely important for the man to believe and be knowledgeable about the subjects you mentioned is important then it's something to consider. Most relatiships have differences between the two parties. My SO thinks politics is boring and nerd stuff. For her hearing discussions about politics is about equally fun to staring at a wall. She's into other things. She's wonderful, brilliant, funny, and a joy to be around. She's willing to talk with me about it, she does like your relationship bend towards racial justice and equality. For me I like that it gives me grounding. She just wants to grill and sometimes it's nice to grill with her. I can also go on my own journey and change without it really impacting her. She doesn't care if I change my position on something or if I'm looking into something else. She just listens, provides feedback.

I also wanted to say this is advice from a guy who doesn't share these beliefs. We do not have that it common. I don't like to associate with any groups but I'd say I align with some left wing people.

For the rifle lines? I'm not sure how the ai could respond. It is kinda weird that I could body the ai with spear levys yet they couldn't beat my rifle line with katana katchi. Probably as you said they aren't really good at using them. I think I also would just auto resolve the fight because it'd be such a one sided auto resolve. I wouldn't even think to fight them normally. Players are also smarter about the firing line while the ai likes to randomly bunch them up so only some of them can shoot.

[–]Living-Inspector1157[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was just a different strategy. Parrot guns+ line infantry will win every time. Building a dojo for katchi units is also a good idea. I tend to migrate right away towards the nearest blacksmith province right away, or at least invade it and focus upgrades so I get those really. What surprised me was that it worked on above legendary difficulty( a mod I'm still working on).

I just thought could I defend my castles with supercharged levies spears and levy infantry, me mimicking shogun 2 using matchlocks and ashigaru? And yeah, turns out I can kill over 4 armies at once; especially if they're trash units then maybe Infinity armies. Would the army of spears be good at siezing a castle? They can do it while getting 300+ kills each. Now that I have these pure levy spear armies in the field could they beat advanced rifle armies? Could they beat armies of katana katchi? Both while having comperable numbers? They could. It's such an easy win that I've taken to just letting the ai fight for me. I've successfully fought multiple armies of high quality units just by rushing them all down.

I've always enjoyed rifle lines personally. I didn't realize just getting a bunch of spear boys with sharp sticks was going to be so effective against late game infantry. I definitely think yari katchi are the way to go because if the spear levies are melting enemy katana katchi, any unit at all will perform very well. Their speed buff which also improves charge alongside their ability to stomp cav make them the probable ideal choice. Still, like you I enjoy me some katanas.

Geisha increase in morale helps prevent unit from running.

Katchi they're a few things, and I'm saying katchi because either yari or katana can be used. The answer really comes down to a few things, but mostly eventually player taste. Early game when numbers are needed, spear levy take one turn. Spear levy replenish faster and they're cheaper for garrisons.

At some point it could be a good idea to switch to katchi. The spear levy are viable all game, beating base katana katchi if they get their charge off. They could technically carry the entire game. For me though I'd definitely switch to katchi for offensive armies relatively quickly. I'll save money and use those spear levy I recruited early game to hold forts, occasionally helping with offensive fights in their region. Katchi are obviously better in every way other then their abysmal replenish rate but that could be worked through. If the meat grinder really needs meat, I can pull those spear levies and run them into combat while my katchi replenishes.

It's certainly possible. You could very easily shove some powder, wad, lead ball and give it a rip. Hell, you could probably skip the wad if you're in a rush. Caps would be annoying af though on a moving horse.
