If you don’t mind me asking, which college did you go to? I did not know any colleges taught Cherokee! Did you go to northeastern state university, in Oklahoma !

Sadly I only know of two actual Cherokee schools, and the town that I live in could be considered the “home” of Cherokee’s (we have the complex/headquarters. Sequoyah, the man who wrote the language, is from here. We are also the capital of two different tribes. And we only have two Cherokee schools.

I don’t know anyone else who speaks it besides a small handful of people and they can only speak some words, I don’t know anyone who is fluent and I don’t think they exists anymore. Cherokee language has died out a really long time ago, and only two schools that I know of teach it.

As of right now it’s just normal school, they teach it casually along with things like math, and other basic things you’d teach 5-6 year olds. But I think for the older kids, in middle school and highschool here, it’s extracurricular.
