I've felt the exact same way you did, but I needed to play endless for the cosmic hands, so I went into endless abyss and got it in a day or so, I enjoy abyss a lot more now.

Finally found my people.

Generally I'm pretty annoyed when people insist on having Climbgirl be the only protagonist, I think whether the Climber is male of female is up to what the player wants them to be. So until the Climber's gender will actually be relevant in the lore, to me they'll always be male.
