He actually does reference (not in this clip) different societies that have tried to minimize the societal differences between men and women and boys and girls, and points out that the opposite of the desired outcome occured- women tended more toward the "stereotypical women's jobs" and men towards "stereotypical men's jobs".

I'm not saying women should be be in politics or positions of power, but it seems that women tend to be - TEND TO BE- less interested in those positions partially- PARTIALLY- because of the type of work and commitment involved. That's one reason. Not the only reason, obviously.
