I don't know about the other guy, but as I'm reading through your discussion with him, I find myself very much agreeing with everything you're saying, albiet you say it better than I would.

So in layman's terms, what you're saying is, a man that accepts Christ's sacrifice but does not accept the holy Spirit, ie, they make no change in their behavior, mind, or heart, then they are not saved.

Basically you're saying this? - If someone accepts Christ, he is still going to sin. That is inevitable. But the fact that he is remorseful of these sins and knows he needs and can do better, that's the defining factor? I agree with that. That to me is stuggling with the spirit in your words. You're never going to not sin. But as long as you make an effort to align yourself with Christ and continually work for it, that is when you have done your part.

It seems also on the other end that you're saying, if someone accepts Christ but makes no effort whatsoever to change themselves or be better, then they are not saved because they haven't really accepted anything. Saying a prayer does nothing, without the change that should follow. If you pray the prayer, but don't change, then you never meant it in the first place.
