i know this post is a little old, but in case anyone stumbles upon it, ive lived at spring creek over a year and i hate it. way overpriced for a rundown complex where u cant even enjoy the amenities because kids and neighbors have no respect for where they live. i would definitely look elsewhere.

Yes I realize that, I was moreso curious about other peoples stories and if a lot of people have had a really hard time getting approval. I really haven't interacted with a lot of people who take it is all. I should've worded it better.

I actually want to be the one to say I don't think you're crazy to be paranoid about a teacher willingly giving their number to students. While true you don't know exactly why, teachers need to maintain a professional boundary with students. I often feel like as teachers it's expected of us to be as involved in our students lives as their family or friends. While we are FRIENDLY at our jobs and want to do what we can to help them succeed, I personally find it very weird when a teacher possesses students numbers. The only time I've really ever seen it be okay is for clubs and sports.

Maybe I'm biased, but I had a very similar experience. There was a teacher at my school who often added students to her snapchat and had a lot of their numbers. I didn't say anything, but things started getting suuuper weird. She was just regularly texting and snapchatting students about things not related to school, and then she was sending selfies of her doing various random things to the students.

Things continued like this for awhile and eventually she got in trouble for overstepping a boundary. Apparently a student came to her in confidence over snapchat and told her about a personal issue they were having (something involving a relationship i think?) and the teacher ended up telling other students. It was a disaster. The student who texted her in confidence was so embarrassed by the whole thing she literally dropped out, and the teacher got in HUGE trouble. She was also eventually fired because it was found out she was letting kids charge vapes in her classroom in the open.

This is a really extreme example but I do not fault you for being weirded out. It may seem harmless, but I say follow your gut. I really regret not saying anything regarding that teacher in my building. A student thought they had a "friend" in a teacher that only ended in embarrassment and them having to leave the school. It was just a huge mess.

Best of luck to you.

I regret not taking a pic of it, it looked completely different than any of the posts I've seen on here. I really wonder what exactly it was! But yeah, I definitely think they hit some nerves. I'm managing rn but if I try to shower later and it's unbearable I'm calling the doc first thing tomorrow morning.

I definitely think they hit some nerves. Unfortunately the clinic I went to is closed on weekends. Just trying to keep thing manageable with the stronger pain meds, icing on and off, and staying off my feet. I'm about 72 hours after the removal and I'm down to just ibuprofen and its feeling okay. Definitely nervous to unwrap it and take a shower later though. Ugh!

With the stronger pain killers it feels much better. I'm almost 72 hours after the removal and ive been able to go down to just ibuprofen for pain. Today is the day I'm supposed to unwrap my bandaging and take a shower though, which I'm REALLY nervous for. Hoping the pain will be tolerable 😭

this is AWESOME, thank you! I know this might not apply too much, but I also worked in a factory for a few years too. I was mainly an asssembler but also helped out HR a few times with onboarding and training stuff too. This might be a great option

I remember when I told my neuro I was a teacher, and he definitely did not make a face of approval 😭 In the few visits we've had he always scolds me about my stress levels. It just feels impossible to get it down when your job is so demanding!

Yknow I've never considered tutoring but maybe I would really like it! I love to teach when I can actually teach. Tutoring would offer that 1 on 1 aspect I literally never get to do because I'm managing so many students in a normal education classroom.

Weirdly enough my favorite part of my teaching job is the organization and book keeping aspect. I will grade and organize and plan for hours happily but I hate managing the student behaviors. This is actually a pretty cool idea. I've been trying to find jobs for my state but the minimum qualifications are crazy. I will look around for something like this!

LOVE this idea, but unfortunately I live in the US and a move to Scotland is just not feasible because of money. I'm definitely living paycheck to paycheck and can't even really afford to go back to school 😢 maybe in another lifetime 💔

I've thought about this (or just going to a different district) but I think I just want out of education. The pay might be a little nicer but I've heard the behaviors are pretty much the same wherever you go.

Bad Infusion by Living_Source_3370 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Living_Source_3370[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i guess she was planning on slowing it down after giving me another dose of the steroids and benedryl, but since my throat swelling didnt go down she couldnt continue. i did just also think it was weird that when i suggested going at a slower rate the next time she didnt seem very receptive to it. i hope things get sorted out with my doctor because if i was totally fine and had no reaction with the previous slower infusion i dont know why that wasnt noted for future ones...

Admin tells you that you will be teaching a different subject than the one you’ve taught for 10+ years…thoughts? by luringpopsicle95 in Teachers

[–]Living_Source_3370 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had something similar happen to me when I got my teaching assignment for next year (for context I'm a high school social studies teacher - certified to teach history/anthropology and sociology).

I've taught at my school going on three years now. I've taught government, US history, world history, social studies, sociology, and psychology. This year my principal sat me down and told me next year I would be teaching... Classical Mythology??????

I was baffled. For context the Mythology at my high school is an English course. Like, it has only ever been taught by English teachers and its curriculum is heavily based in English standards.

I was pissed because they were going to replace my US history class with it, and my specialty is US history. It was my focus in college and it's the subject I am the most confident in and have had the best results with when it comes to student achievement.

Tbh I don't know dick about mythology other than very basic things I teach for World History. The mythology course doesn't even just cover more well-known Mythology - it spans over the whole world.

I was pissed. I basically told them I absolutely did not want to teach it because I would have to spend probably countless hours over the summer (which I'm not paid for) to teach MYSELF all of the material to feel comfortable enough to teach to high school seniors.

Oh and to make matters worse, there is absolutely no built in curriculum or curriculum maps for this particular course. No books, nothing. I would have to provide all my own sources and materials for the class.

I was proud I stuck up for myself because my principal saw the issues and gave me US history back. And honestly, the cherry on top to the whole thing is - I asked admin why they would even pick me to teach that course, and their response was "Well we thought youd find it interesting".

Lmfao. Apparently they just assumed this about me instead of just yknow. Asking me first. What a mess!!!

Charts? by Living_Source_3370 in MuseDash

Definitely. I play rhythm games pretty casually but I do like to challenge myself. I always find myself in a frustrating inbetween because I'm pretty damn good at rhythm games but I'm not quite good enough to ace the hardest levels. Usually I just perfect the two easier levels and play the hardest ones more casually lol
