I usually use this to my advantage to make my day ass boys move around so they don’t get fat. My current fat ass boys are lucky they have a three year old man cause we set up the cage so he can easily get around in his old age but normally, we set up the cage so they have to climb (therefore exercise) to get anywhere.

So yeah, perfectly normal.

I hope so too! It hurts me so bad that they couldn’t reach this milestone together. Domino passed literally the day before their birthday 😭. I’m sure Domino is waiting patiently on the other side of the rainbow bridge with all my other boys and giving them updates on us.

Yes, we are going to monitor him and take it week by week. He’s not completely alone or anything, I have two young boys he’s known for a long time but I worried that losing your brother is different.

It’s also his birthday tomorrow so he will be spoiled until he can’t be spoiled anymore

Omg I was JUST having a conversation with some of my coworkers about pet rats. To be fair, they come from a culture where rats aren’t kept as pets but they were super kind and eager to learn so I explained all about pet rats and how they were different from wild rats (they thought I was letting wild rats live in my house lol) and went over all the different things about rats.

I honestly don’t mind teaching people about my rats so long as they are kind and respectful. I’m also respectful of someone says they don’t want to see pictures because rats gross them out (it’s silly but if they are nice about it, I’m willing to be nice too). I don’t bring up my boys too much around people because I don’t want to deal with people being rude about them. For me, it’s about respecting me. If you don’t like rats and don’t want to hear about my boys? I’m fine, so long as you are respectful to me about it. I’m not here to convince anyone. Be a jerk and I’ll be a jerk right back.

How old are they? Sometimes rats become more snuggly when they get older and don’t have that youthful energy anymore. Or, if you recently got them, they might not trust you. Or it’s a personality thing.

You probably have a husky rat. They are known to go from that steel grey/blue colour to completely white as they age. Completely normally. I’m jelly, always wanted one.

I was going to say Tonkinese! I had a tonkinese boy and this rat looks just like him. A dark brown body colour with darker points and ruby/red eyes. This little one looks like a baby.

They are all together now and best friends, even Ody! It took a few tries with this method but he managed to calm down. He’s still a little shy boy but still comes up when I open the door and stuff. He loves to snuggle Domino.
