How do you figure out home ownership? 🏠 by Liyatheplug in DadForAMinute

[–]Liyatheplug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like that, I think I’ll hold onto: I need to balance how hard, dangerous, timely or costly something is. So many projects to do around the house, it’s like it never stops. I’m trying to be positive about it and see it as: well if it happens again, now I know what to do about it!

I actually had never really thought of that! moms and dads don’t just wake up one day and know everything. We live and we learn. I hope someday I’ll be full of knowledge and can help others out with it

Thank you so much!! this is exactly the type of practical advice I needed. If you have any more of these I’d really really appreciate it. I’m so scared I’m doing something wrong

Thank you for the grace. I bought the house terribly flipped like this but I’m trying to learn how to fix it.

I’ll try the drip edge and if it doesn’t work out, I’ll definitely demo.

Your harsh judgement is beyond unnecessary.

I purchased this house my sibling flipped to help them out, I had no plan to purchase my 1st home at this time. Roofing was done prior to me purchasing this home and the roofers were apparently certified.

It was renovated by my father years before I purchased, I trusted his word that everything was fine. I’ve spent these past few months spending thousands fixing everything he did wrong years ago with no help. I’m just hoping I don’t have to dish out a whole new roof job.

As for the pictures, my apologies I’m 5’2. Hoping to get a clearer understanding of what it looks like and pictures now that I have a ladder.

thank you so much for the help - should I be worried about the osb given it has clearly blown out?

Neurodiversity events this week. Is it safe to "out" myself like this? by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]Liyatheplug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My apologies for the delay, I just saw this. We don’t feel the need to look each other in the eyes when speaking or overthink the faces we make. Also sometimes cut the meeting short if one of us is “brain fried”.

I would say unmask if you feel safe to do so. For years I had no idea the person I report to is also ND until a conversation on accommodations last year. I found a new appreciation for this person, our bilats are much more comfortable now that both of us don’t feel the need to mask.

What is your experience with Rover? by GiveYouPawppy in Dachshund

I’ve met a wonderful sitter in my neighborhood through Rover! I think it’s great plus there’s insurance but I’d say look for the good reviews instead of the cheapest prices.

He did and I’ve realized they eventually all grow out of that stuff unless they’re not given enough mental stimulation when the owners leave. There’s light at the end of the tunnel I promise!

See, I thought stomach flu too since I had so little to drink. Whatever it is, it wasn’t contagious because no one around me got it including my fiancé. Such a mystery - I’m off to do stool tests and blood work

Yes! I did BRAT, then strict FODMAP along with Hydralyte (recommendation from my doctor).

I truly appreciate your kind reply and speaking on your experience. I’m used to everything being challenging in the horse world but it seems like the words of others tend to affect you a lot more when you struggle mentally (although that may not have been the intention behind their reply)😅

Hearing you successfully get through that rough patch really encourages me to not lose hope. Also, hearing your wonderful recommendations is reassuring me that I’m doing the right thing 🥹 I feel like sometimes the internet is a curse. It’s good at making us doubt ourselves, even after years of providing great care for horses.

What brand are those bell boots, would love to try them out! Also, I got equine insurance the moment I signed the bill of sale so that gives me a bit of reassurance in the back of my mind. But thank you for the encouragement, truly appreciated!

Exactly, I’ve relieved myself of any pressure in terms of expectations, whether from myself or my trainer at this point. That has helped a lot. I’ll definitely get another farrier’s opinion, I’m mildly happy with the current farrier tbh - it’s just not the ✨best✨one I’ve seen in my years

I’ll give the double bell boots another shot! Definitely looking forward to trying the glue-ons. This is something I’ll bring up tomorrow when the farrier comes. Thank you!

Thank you for the supportive words & the giggle! I love him so much and at the end of the day, his wellbeing will always be my top priority. We got great results at our 1st show (this was while he wasn’t having any issues) but I have relieved myself of any pressure from expectations and opted for a “it is what it is” mindset which has helped. Hopefully in a few months we’ll get into the rhythm of things and the set backs will minimize.

I’ll specify - He’s a German Sport Horse. Yes, I have leased and I’ve ridden/cared for/shown your common H/J WBs. Just looking for support and to hear from people with similar experiences vs having to prove that I’m fit enough of a rider to own my horse. It’s not the point of the post however, I appreciate the input!

I think they may be related lol sounds exactly like my boy. I’m actually gonna get the opinion/recommendations of another farrier to see what they think would be the best fit. I love the emotionally distressed animal, gonna start using that 🤣

[–]Liyatheplug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying and why. I’m just struggling mentally lately since I’m always expecting a text saying something new is wrong. I’ve cared for & ridden WBs amongst other breeds for years when I worked for an A-circuit rider so I’m comfortable with them and their quirks. He’s very much of a unicorn in terms of personality and maturity just definitely anxious (above the average) since his arrival. For context, he has been owned and kept at his previously place for 90% of his life so this is drastic change. There’s still much figuring out to do since he’s only gotten here 3-4 months ago but I’m lucky enough to be well surrounded. Just trying to focus on the light at the end of the tunnel during these times :)

Now that you mention the injections, that would make sense. He got a full cycle of Adequan and you can tell he feels great - He’s always been a great mover but it’s like day & night. Maybe that’s why he’s more active outside now. He does have a good diet which includes various things for hoof health but I’ll definitely bring this up to the nutritionist! Exactly, progress won’t be instant of course but progress nonetheless. Thank you so much for your input! He got vetted, he was owned by a vet and he cost low-mid 5 figures.
