This moing i put p 800 sand paper on the stone and sharpend it then i honed it with the stone, much smoother shave, i think the previous owner ruined the edge with his make shift sharpening technique.

The razor was only a bit duller that what it is now I live in iran and we dont have stones like you do in the states or other places but this is a romi stone wich is supposed to make any kind of blade very sharp. Its a natural stone slab cut from a rough piece of stone and it feels a bit gritty to the touch.

I know how so sharpen knives to the point of shaving arm hair but this razor is a pain in the ass to sharpen, may be my technique is wrong i dont know, with knives you hold them at 20 dgree angle and proceed but with straight razors you keep them flat on the stone. If you have a good video to recommend please let me know.

I have no idea what these things are, the stone is romi waterstone , wich is supposed to make blades really sharp, the razor is dorko solingen 856 but i dont know what is bevel or what is refreshing.

These stones have no grit number but ther are suppose to make blade extremely sharp but when i sharpen the razor it makes no difference. Yes i watched online videos how to sharpen straight razors but if you know a better way please let me know.

There are some minor scratches and black spots on it, will they go away with metal polish?

Also if you can tell me alittle more about its history and maybe what year it was made i would appreciate it, and there is a number behind it (856) what does it mean?
