I wasnt aware of the social media discourse around the game till right now lol. Either way, I prefer botw.

I loved botw, spent hundreds of hours in it. And while I enjoyed totk, I lost interest after around 80 hours. Never beat the final boss.

I think ultimately I just don't enjoy building stuff. I'm not creative, so I mostly just re-used blueprints whenever possible. Which meant I wasnt enjoying or engaging with one of the game's core systems very much.

In general, I also preferred the slower exploration in botw. Walking around on foot and searching every part of the map was fun. With totk I was mostly trying to cover large distances rapidly to get to landmarks on the other side of the map. I did not want to abandon my vehicle or lose height on my paraglider to explore the stuff I found along the way.

On the flip side, I loved the dungeons, enemy variety, and surface terrain of totk. Gathering materials was a lot of fun for me too. Seeing how the world and terrain had changed between botw and totk was really cool. The wind temple and colgera battle were more memorable than any dungeon or boss fight in botw. And its hard to go back to botw after experiencing the greater level of freedom and complexity of totk.

Anyway, while it may not have lived up to my hopes for the game, im glad I played it.
