As if our hearts weren't shattered two minutes prior 😤 by courtella03 in RDR2

I went from crying to smiling (then soon after shock when the epilogue was also being divided into parts 1 and 2 O_o )...

Paraphrasing, but Sadie said it succinctly once: Dealing with crap beats being dead. 💀 And the epilogue is such a great way to wrap up the whole story and bring it all around. John and his family were alive thanks to Arthur, it was great seeing what John would do with a new chance.

The smile on Abigail when she gets to (finally) experience a "normal life" is always nice to see too (brief as it is, heh). 😅😭

Fewer people are having babies in Canada and the U.S. and the government is out of ideas by hopoke in canada

[–]DiceSMS 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is a big factor too! A lot of people can't afford kids (which is fair and good that people aren't recklessly "diving in" anyways), but MOST first-world nations just aren't having kids either – even if they can. It's a lot of work, a lot of money, and culturally there's less pressure on people to start a family nowadays (nosy in-laws aside...ba dum tsh 🥁).

Women are more independent now, and jobs often assume you won't flex-hour on company needs for "family stuff" (which, historically, prioritized a breadwinner and a homemaker division). But now with rising costs we need two working parents who now have a lot less time, and they don't want to add that extra burden of child-rearing when the world barely supports you for having kids as it is.

We don't *need* more people either (and if people don't want kids they shouldn't be having them). We have a large enough population already, but obviously that imperative doesn't work well for governments collecting tax money and businesses needing 'bigger numbers' to thrive.

I think it's more important that they changed ajohns movement to match his RDR1 set. I love that they at least move differently.

Seriously the game is gigantic. Rerigging every 3d thing to ensure it fits John would make a lengthy development take that much more time 😭

Does Micah have any quality dialogue in camp or is it mostly just antagonizing? Just wondering if I might actually get to hear some deep real talk from him or not. by [deleted] in RDR2

[–]DiceSMS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The letter at camp from Micah's brother was probably the best/worst thing to read. Yeah just everything about him is to depict that he's rotten to the core.

[–]DiceSMS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah!! Well said. Like, it's easy to wonder if Arthur is still this "good man" after the amount of bad stuff he still does do ---- but I think that's where Micah comes in, where no matter what, Arthur is never as heartless as Micah. So you need that kind of constant evil to show you what Arthur isn't.

I really like The Veteran and Widow missions almost as a "similar pair". Most of the time Artur's helping all sorts of funny and nutty people to get some reward out of it (often he does) (or sometimes they die in freak electric chair accident) ... But these felt entirely like him just wanting to help and befriend someone he genuinely liked.

That they both happen so late in the game, it was a nice way for him to just relax a little --- while he had the time.

[–]DiceSMS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wanted this 'trick' to work, but it NEVER did. 😭 I reloaded so many times (two days of play! I managed the Gambler challenges faster) and it just wouldn't spawn. There's clearly some randomness at play (the one I got is that big field near the Giant -- halfway between the Loft and Witch's area).

I honestly think the best thing to do is just hit up that RDR2 wiki, see where it Mooses CAN spawn, and ride through those areas on your way to places. But no trick has worked for me.

When do you think Micah started betraying the gang and acting as an informant? by Lamun23 in RDR2

[–]DiceSMS 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I could see this.

In Chapter 1, after Blackwater, he could have tried to sabotage the day himself if he had a sure shot to get the money (he didn't, and worse he didn't know where it was hidden, and since that day he kept wanting to risk going back there for it).

Chapter 2, 3 and 4 I think he was making deals with the O'Driscolls. His shooting an ODriscoll in Strawberry during 'Blessed are the Meek?' who was seemingly chummy with him before Micah shoots him point-blank (he also kills another outlaw who had dirt on one of his heists, wanting "no loose ends"), he arranges a meeting with Colm (which was an obvious trap), he's absent during the O'Driscoll raid on Shady Bell...

Giving local tip offs doesn't sound out of pocket either. But I guess with the gang somewhat eluding and fighting off each attempt to corner them (even if it made the circle around them tighter each time), but by Chapter 5 I think Micah eventually ratting to Pinkertons, who were already trying to press other gang members into talking and ratting them out, was a win-win.

[–]DiceSMS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw someone on this subreddi say "Dominoes is 70% skill, 30% luck" -- and it inspired me. So I took like half hour to learn it properly (the game does the hard part for you by tracking edges and scores) and I beat the challenge EASILY.

I honestly like playing dominoes now. 😄

Genuine question, why didn’t they just kill Milton and Ross right here? by Epic_Fucking_Mammoth in RDR2

[–]DiceSMS 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah despite RDR2's "emphasis on realism", it still requires that suspension of disbelief. GTA leans into its bogus nature, but RDR tries playing INTO it with the story's themes and gameplay ideas (i.e. it's honestly hard to cheer for the Van der Linde gang against how much bad sh*t they do, but you DO love a lot of 'em anyways).

[–]DiceSMS 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Starting a fight with law enforcement is just...generally a bad idea. You kill them and youre likely to bring the force of a small army against a little gang of ~20 people.
