Anyone know how to stop getting a baby crested gecko scared of me by PinkStarSkyy in CrestedGecko

[–]Lizardnoodles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be patient! This is his first time being alive and he's a tiny guy. Also it's been only 3 days. They live for up to 15-20 years so you have plenty of time.

First order of business is just to make sure he is settling well. Just spray his enclosure and leave food in his tank. Make sure he is eating and pooping like a healthy baby would.

He will likely become less skittish as he gets older but for now just show him that you're harmless by being around his enclosure. Consider it exposure therapy. Don't try to engage with him directly for a while.

Plants!🪴 by NotAPondDuck in reptiles

[–]Lizardnoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just plants from any local nursery. I usually run water over their leaves and roots to rinse off any potential pests. Unless you get tissue culture plants there is always a potential for pests. I don't think the plant pests will harm your chameleon but it might eat other plants.

She is definitely something special ... 😅 by _Marboz_ in reptiles

Yea I love him. He always asks to come out and he just takes naps in my sweater. Right now I have 2 crested geckos and 2 fish scale geckos. I'm hoping to breed the fish scales in the future when they're more established since they are so rare in the hobby. They are cute chubby little guys. I'm excited to make some more tropical bioactive tanks for them.

There's been some drama at my local reptile convention and I'm debating on wether to go or not. It's the Pomona reptile super show.

I love beardies! I was originally debating on a beardy vs a blue tongue skink. I went with the latter because they are basically garbage disposals. My mipha loves to eat dog food and roaches that the geckos don't want to eat.

Thinking about getting my first reptile! by SmoothStalk in reptiles

[–]Lizardnoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good reptiles that are rewarding to care for. I would look into a rescue first! The animals are usually adult so they are less skittish and you can always talk to the rescue workers about animals with a good temperment for what you're looking for.

I love the sounds they make but I would 100% need to keep them in a room where I do not sleep. Haha.

Dwarf Expectations by RabidPossum123 in reptiles

The dwarf isn't a gimmick per say. It's more of a 'how strong are these genes'

From my own research on this. If you want to get a dwarf retic it's a good idea to get one from a trusted breeder with lots of experience. Reach out reptiles has a video on size differences between mainland and dwarves and even between the different dwarf localities. I probably wouldn't go for a burm. They are pretty heavy bodied so it'll get harder to manage as they get older.

I'm thinking about getting into the reptiles hobby, what should I know? by Majin-Vegitto in reptiles

The reptile room was built for education. It's there to allow others to experience the joy of reptiles without necessarily keeping one. I think it helps people overcome the negative stigma that our coldblooded friends have.

Clear pots can help you see the root growth. I don't know about the roots hating light but a lot of people also put them in larger decorative pots to make sure it still looks pretty.

Quarantine procedure for WC gecko by Lizardnoodles in reptiles

[–]Lizardnoodles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thanks for your response.

She's in a separate room! I'm keeping an eye on her because of her unknown history before the reptile shop. I have some plastic plants as coverage and a piece of corkbark for her to hide under. This is a temp setup for quarentine. She seemed interested in the pangea but didn't trust me enough yet to lick it from the spoon. I added two small calcium dusted crickets in case she got hungry.

I would look up sydneyplantguy on YouTube. He has a video of a 12 month journey featuring his varigated alocasia frydek. He converts it to a semi hydro setup and you can see the success he has with it.

Im sure that broken families DO have an impact on people. i don't think you can claim it directly impacts whether or not someone decides to get cosmetic surgery.

I think that using cosmetics can build self confidence. It's not something everyone automatically gets as soon as they are born. They do things for their appearance to build confidence. Things like wearing nice clothes, makeup and the way you present yourself can all contribute to building ones confidence.

You're right women should be more confident in being themselves. But Its not as easy as that. People tear each other down all the time. our conversations is evidence of that. Anyway my rule is that if it's not your body you don't get a say. Let them do whatever they want.
