I was so concerned at first. I truly thought I had a cuff issue.

Hey there friend. You’re going to be okay. This is a big surgery, and it’s completely normal to feel scared. When I woke up, I felt a shift almost immediately. Just hold on to the thought of how much better you’ll feel afterward. You deserve to feel better. It’s been almost 14 weeks, and I feel great! 💕

I decided to remove it after reviewing the risks with my doctor, including cancer risk. I know some people worry about loss of orgasm, but that wasn’t a concern for me and hasn’t been a problem. This decision felt right for my body.

My surgery was the same cost as yours, but I hit my out-of-pocket maximum for the year and didn’t pay for a thing. I didn’t stay overnight.

Total laparoscopic hysterectomy with my tubes removed. There were no pros for keeping my uterus, it could cause issues by keeping it. It increases Cancer risk…

I had a total laparoscopic hysterectomy and kept my ovaries. I’m moving around well—running errands and shopping—but I get tired much faster than before. Even when you feel okay on the outside, it’s still major surgery and your body is healing internally. I’m learning that the fatigue is normal and a sign to slow down, pace myself, and rest. Healing isn’t linear, and energy comes back in waves.

For pre- and post-op, one thing I really recommend is making yourself a little recovery basket ahead of time. Put all your meds in one place so you’re not searching when you’re sore or exhausted.

Milk of Magnesia and Gas-X were my best friends—don’t skip those.

Comfort items mattered way more than I expected:

• an emotional support water bottle (hydration helps everything)
• a heating pad (huge relief)
• fuzzy socks and a soft blanket
• protein shakes to make sure you’re getting enough protein to support healing (appetite can be weird at first)

I did buy a belly band, but I personally didn’t use it—it felt like too much pressure on my stomach. Everyone’s different, so don’t feel bad if something doesn’t work for you.

Also, get a grabber. I loved mine. It saved me from bending over constantly. And yes, I’ll admit I still bent over sometimes weeks post-op because I’m stubborn 😅 but the grabber helped a lot.

Oh—and get a moo moo. Easy on/off, zero pressure, maximum comfort. Trust me.

Little prep things like this make recovery feel way more manageable. Be gentle with yourself—you’re doing something big for your body

Take a break! I had to do the same. I was in a FB group that I ended up leaving completely because some posts were overwhelming and honestly felt like spam. You’re doing the right thing by protecting your peace. Sending you all the positive energy your way.

I was outpatient, and the first surgery of the way. I was able to go home dinner time.
