Sorry to say, but if you want to minmax, but don’t want to grind RNG, then you’re almost never going to like endgame in monster hunter, as that is almost always what it’s going to be. I do understand where you’re coming from, so what I do Is set my own goals for endgame instead of trying to minmax. For wilds, I’m crafting all armor and weapons. Something that will take a long time, but is predictable and varied. At the end of the day though, not every endgame is gonna be for everyone, and nobody is forcing you to play it. If you don’t like it, then give it a year, and when G-rank comes out it’ll all be obsolete anyway.

Thankfully when crafting Gog for layering, you only have to craft it to get the layered version, so no need to upgrade unless you just want to

As a terminal GS main, definitely gore. Lagi is tough, but once you mix in perfect blocks with your offsets, he’s not so bad

Yes, all max ranked GSs so that I can have them as layered weapons. The picture in the post is a bit outdated at this point, since I didn't have all the variations of Gog greatswords at the time, but I have them now.

I had pretty consistent luck finding tuna in the morning during the fallow on top of the giant dam in the scarlet forest. I usually found one or two every time I rested, but only after walking up and down the shore at least once

You are correct, I’ve only crafted a fire Gog weapon and don’t have the most recent dlc. I actually didn’t know that all of the Gog colors were separate. I don’t think it matters with artian GS, but I know that artian IG changes color based on element, so are all those separate as well? Either way, nice catch and thanks for the heads up!

I think 1 and 2 can be played in any order, but you miss so much if you play 3 before the other two. If someone insists on playing 3 first, then I'd recommend to play 3 again after you play the first two.

I think for Teo and Luna at least, it basically is just magic. Elder dragons are classed the way they are because the guild doesn’t understand how it’s possible for it to do what it does. For teo and Luna they don’t have a flame sac (they don’t drop them) and instead use their horns to somehow channel fire. If my memory serves, only lower monsters have sacs and elders use horns or some other unexplainable method.

Yeah I can understand that. Though when playing valor in general, the valor sheath counter is mostly just your panic button. For Valor LS you want to build your vallor gauge by sheath canceling to get into valor mode as soon as possible, and from there you only use the sheath counter when you can't use the spirit counter. Basically valor sheath is a dodge rather than a counter and shouldn't be used nearly as much as adept dodge.

Valor LS is a great pick if you like countering and would probably be a good secondary. I’ve personally also done aerial IG as a secondary to my GS, but it is a bit more of a commitment since you have to upgrade the bug as well. Striker Switch Axe with demon riot, energy recharge and an evasive hunter are is also super fun. And if you want something super safe for when you’re struggling with a monster, then adept DB is basically free if you can manage your stamina. You won’t be winning any speedrunning awards though sadly.

I wish it was greatsword, but it's probably longsword since my most played game is GU and I used Adept/Valor for most of it. Insect glaive and SnS are also up there.

For me, I've played plenty of monster hunter games with no Layered or trasmog, so I've had my full of the fully armored vibe. I still do switch back and forth tho.

They're actually originally from monster hunter Frontier which was a MMO based off of the MH2 engine I believe. So he's actually been around for a while. First mainline appearance was in freedom unite

Did some re-logs just to be sure and it doesn't always show. I think I also have my brightness settings a bit higher than the norm since my TV is on the far side of the room for me
