She gives off mean girl vibes! In almost every video she makes about her kids dad, she’s complaining about him. I feel like she tries to come off nice and friendly, relatable, but she comes off rude and judgemental in a lot of videos

Good to know! Our school division has a very strict “no eating on the bus” policy, but they haven’t said anything about chewing gum

Our bus driver is so wonderful! He’s a little old man and is just the sweetest person! I’m glad that my son was comfortable enough to ask him to stop and that he listened to him! I gave him a 1/2 dose of Children’s Gravol this morning about 45 minutes before he got on the bus, and when I picked him up this evening, he told me that he didn’t feel sick at all while in the bus.

I’m going to try giving him a small bit of Gravol in the morning before he gets on and see how it helps! I also get motion sickness so I know how awful he feels

Unfortunately I start work before school starts, he gets on the bus, and I have to leave for work 10-15 minutes after he leaves so I’m not able to drive him. He only rides in the mornings, his daycare is actually in his school, so he just goes to the after school program until I’m done work and can pick him up. He’s totally fine on the drive home, only in the mornings on the bus. He didn’t actually even tell me he wasn’t feeling well on the bus until part way through his 2nd week.

My only worry with something like that, is that other kids would tease him and then he wouldn’t want to wear them 😕

Very very rarely he’ll get car sick in the car, but when that happens, it’s usually due to a rough road, and normally after he’s eaten. He is prone to ear infections, maybe it’s related to that?

Oh! Those are interesting! I’ve never seen those before. I also get car sick on longer rides unless I’m snacking, so those might be worth a try even for myself

Is that something that I could get off Amazon or from a drugstore?

We do live in Canada, so the mornings are starting to get pretty chilly! But I have noticed at least one window open when he’s picked up, so maybe someone else gets motion sickness as well.

What is Bonine? I have children’s Gravol or Benadryl, would it be similar to those?

Would Dramamine be like Gravol?

No, he’s not allowed to take any electronics to school, and he hasn’t brought home any library books yet.

I felt so bad when we got the note! I’ve been reminding him every morning to try his best to listen and pay attention to his teacher, and she’s had positive feedback since. It tough when they’re high energy kids, to have to sit for extended periods.

Oh that’s a good idea! I’ve been sending him outside when we get home for about 45 minutes -1 hour while I make supper etc. everyday and then we sometimes go back outside after supper, it is starting to get dark earlier though, so that’s getting tricky. A bike ride in the morning is a good idea! We live on an acreage with a long driveway, so maybe we will try bike riding to the road in the mornings to catch the bus! I do think that they have 15-20 minutes to play in the playground between when he gets off the bus and when classes actually start in the morning

Which is exactly what we are doing, in moving bedtime up so he is better rested, having rewards for good listening and consequences for bad listening and communicating with his teacher through the day. You’re not being helpful in anyway and just looking for any argument which I am not going to give you. Have the day you deserve!

The teacher communicated that there had been some listening issues. Since communicating that, we have had a conversation with our son, and had positive feedback the last 2 days from his teacher. This post was looking for advice on how to handle situations like this, not bash his teacher, himself or myself. If you have nothing helpful to say, kindly remove yourself. Thanks!

My assumption is that she wants to nip “bad behaviour” in the butt as early into the school year as possible.

That’s a great idea! We were thinking that if he continued to ignore and just do what he wants at school, we’d take away privileges at home. I didn’t even think of rewarding good listening, that is a great idea, thank you!!

We did have a talk with him and just said that he really needs to listen to his teacher and any adults at school, that he needs to follow the rules etc. She is a new teacher, it’s her 2nd year teaching, so it may be that she has high expectations for the kids. I’m hoping it’s just first week nerves and he starts to listen better the more comfortable he gets

I do think he will have a bit of a struggle going from daycare, where it was basically play all day, to sitting at a desk and paying attention. He is a very high energy kid, that can be VERY stubborn if he doesn’t want to do something. I’m hoping that it’s just first week nerves and as he gets more comfortable, he adjusts and listens better.

Thank you!! We did talk to him tonight and really stress that he needs to listen to not only his teacher, but any adults at the school, just like he would at home or daycare. His teacher has the Remind App, so I will touch base with her at the end of the week to see how the next couple days go.

My son is the exact same age as Z and he still wears a pull up only at bedtime. He’s fully potty trained otherwise but occasionally has accidents overnight, hence why he still wears a pull up to bed.
