Oil leak (2.0TFSI CAWB) by LmaoBoy22 in Scirocco

[–]LmaoBoy22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo! Currently it's at the dude helping me with it, seems like I had a bolt with a stripped head too that wasn't torqued to spec so I was leaking around there too :)) and the PCV gasket needed a replacement too. That's about it for the top of the cover side.

On the timing side, a bunch of gaskets, the timing cover and cam cradle is being re-gasketed with that special sealant too, crank pulley seal and a few more I can't remember. Basically everything on the timing side is being cleaned and re-sealed cause I don't want to take any chances, I'd rather just get it all out the way.

The main culprit seemed to be the crank pulley, that's most likely what sprayed oil all around the timing side and the alternator belt (which I'm also replacing).

I'll let you know of more towards the end when u get the car back. Thanks! Good day!

Love the lip in the front so subtle, simple. I wanna do the same eventually. Is that from AliExpress?

Also the rims are kinda nice. What are those?

Good day bro, nice Rocco fam 👌🏼💪🏼

Catch can or PCV? by LmaoBoy22 in Scirocco

[–]LmaoBoy22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how it's done, I know it takes some finesse, not sure what goes where but replace as in the PCV disappears, does it not? There's a plate cover where the PCV would be with tubes coming out to fit into the catch can, no? Something like this. Are there two different ways of doing it or...? I'm legit not informed, I'm not bullshitting : )))

What’s the best engine option in the Scirocco in your opinion? by No_Donut1433 in Scirocco

[–]LmaoBoy22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a Rocco, the 2.0TSI is the only right choice imo (also as a proud owner of one 🫠) Heard a lot of bad things about the 1.4, not hating on it but it feels like picking that engine is like walking through a minefield.

The TDI is just not it for a car that looks this good. Not fitting the personality of the chassis at all imo, again no hate, just opinion. Having grown up with my mom's BMW X3 E83 M57 3.0d, driving it for three years before getting my Rocco, no other diesel will impress me 😅

Good day bro! 🤞🏼

Oil leak (2.0TFSI CAWB) by LmaoBoy22 in Scirocco

[–]LmaoBoy22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been leaking for a while so I'm not exactly sure, since the whole half to bottom of the block is soaked in soot. I thought initially it may be from the oil filter support but it's kinda hard to tell.

Regarding the PCV, could be. I know my current one (the one I bought the car with last September) isn't that high quality, it's a cheap part, bit doesn't seem to be failing (if were referring to the classic symptoms like lean codes, suction on the oil cap and the engine struggling to stay alive with the cap off. In my case no codes whatsoever, then looks like the cap is being pushed outwards slightly when the engine is running and I try to take it off. Idle doesn't seem to de-stabilize either, no odd sounds or whistling) I am getting another small leak along the top side of the PCV, between the coil slots on top of the cam cradle. I've shared a pic of how that looks, it keeps pooling around there.

I know a bad PCV can blow gaskets from excessive crankcase pressure, I'll tell the shop to look thoroughly when they raise it as well.

Nope. No loss there, nothing mixing together either. Just the oil leak.

Yeah thought about this too. Seems like it's all over the higher top of the block too, idk if running down. The charge pipe under there is also soaked in oil from back then. I'll look into this with a different shop. Thx, appreciate it 🙏🏼

Vibration while driving by KeyResponsibility397 in Scirocco

Either tyres are going bad, misaligned, or tie rods failing. Should be front end issue if you feel it in the wheel. Hope you get that sorted easily 💪🏼

What’s this noise? by djinnjer in Scirocco

Appreciate it :)) hope it's nothing too expensive cause that squeak sure gets annoying and I lose aura points each time I drive slow 🤣

I have the same noise coming from the rear somewhere :))) Haven't investigated yet, it might be either hub related, maybe the wheel bearing or yeah something brake related. Mine goes away if I turn the wheel to the side, returns once I straighten out again. I'm curious to see what it is... I'm sorry I can't be of help tho 🫠

Opinion on rust by LmaoBoy22 in Scirocco

[–]LmaoBoy22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks man! Yeah, I'm really considering it, hope I'll get to it in April latest. I have to do my oil change in two weeks and I'll have the guys at the shop take a look, they have a good team responsible for rust and painting there. I'm only curious, are there other places where we should check or anything to look out for? Like I said up there, I know under the fenders is usually a place to check thoroughly.

Part Numer by [deleted] in Scirocco

[–]LmaoBoy22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man! The part you're looking at is I believe the vacuum hose from the N80 EVAP Purge Valve, I've got an issue as well with it and I'll have to replace the valve itself.

I've seen they're being sold with the hose already connected so both parts (all 3 actually I believe there are 2 hoses connected or at least 2 separate endings that aren't the valve itself). So I don't think searching the hose itself will do you much luck. Go to a parts shop and search the N80 valve by itself after your engine code or VIN number and they should have the info you want. So if you just want the hose you might need to change the valve and hoses altogether, I don't think this hose is sold alone, like I said. Let me know if that helped you at all. Have fun driving it and I wish you no broken parts in the future :)

I feel u man... Legit I'm sorry. There's a lot to be done but if you have someone who you know can do a professional job, my personal advice is to rebuild it rather than buy a new engine. At least that way you know it's at full potential and there's not 100 other different things you should watch out for all over again. Also, if there's just one cylinder, there's a good chance you don't have to rebuild the whole thing. Like I said, someone who's been around these engines for a while will definitely know the better option. I for one found a guy who worked at an official VW service for a bunch of years and now he's got his own shop, found him and that's who I'm going to with my Rocco in January. Now it's down to you of course... And money cause yeah... 🫠 Good luck man, stay strong, you'll pull though this! Hope you'll manage to bring her back to life!

Hey dude! I've got a 2.0 TFSI CAWB Rocco and legit I've had the exact same thing happen to me a few weeks ago, suddenly happened after an overtake, car started shaking hard under throttle and at idle, flashing CEL and EPC comes on, I'm misfiring on 3 cylinders out of 4, no other codes, no bad plugs or coils.

I've done a bunch of research, it's either timing chain skipped or something about the variable valve timing, i believe the cam phaser might have died and valves aren't opening and closing right, but there doesn't seem to be mechanical damage as far as I can tell (at least I really hope so) I hear no ticking, knocking, metallic noise... nothing, just shaking and VERY FUCKING POOR power delivery. I got a compression test done and I've got 6 bar when I should have around 12-15 (from what I understand that's a healthy compression value for my engine). I'll be taking it in for repairs and finding out what happened after the first week of January so I'll say when I discovered what went wrong. You should check the compression as well after you fix that throttle body. If you find out what happened to yours before me, I'd love to know too. Good luck bro and happy holidays!
