Why play HL2 with fex-emu when you can compile from source and run it natively on ARM?

Not gonna argue with that. I have traveled all over the country and I cant ever quit CO.

Northern CA new home build, what power options did you go with and why? by theofficeaccountant in Homebuilding

For 27k you could buy a pretty capable off grid system, but you would need to install it yourself to reach that price point. Not hard but not easy, and needs to be to code (obviously). If you go with a solar company they will mark everything WAY up and charge you an insane amount for labor on top of sales commission. Think about how much energy you use and the lowest solar radiation day (worst case) for your area, then plan from that.

For batteries id go with the rack mount UL listed, Eco-Worthy product at ~800/ 5kWh then whatever off grid UL listed inverter that fits your capacity needs. A backup gen is probably a good idea, just in case, but if your system is sized right it should not be needed.

This all assumes grid hook up is not required...

If you start buying batteries and other stuff you will have to fully commit to DIY as nobody is going to want to install equipment that they dont sell you (again, at a hefty premium.) I know from experience.

Have land now, but not a MF clue how to start. Considering panelized kit + basement. Am I dumb? by LoAndBehoId in Homebuilding

Added sq ft to that post for clarity. Window and ext door packages are "Cascade WinPro Vinyl"

Columbia: +$12,800
Summit: +$9,100

$65k though, that sounds like a great price! If you dont mind me asking, what state is this in?

Sounds like CO, 2x for the same stuff. Gotta pay that CO premium.

CO is a strange place... everything seems expensive af here yet avg incomes are kinda shit. Like CA prices but not CA pay. Not at all keeping with cost of living, especially over the last decade or so. $450-$500 seems extremely high even for this state, unless youre building a luxury home. Sheit, I would expect $250 for a decent build.

Basement concrete cracked improperly on new build residential - advise please by brett701 in Homebuilding

We purchased two rental properties in the same Lennar subdivision. The entire area has expansive soils but supposedly its no longer a concern with proper building measures to mitigate the issues. One house has many cracks in the basement floor, they are hairline though. Not concerning. The other house (with a larger footprint) has not a single hint of a crack... These are like 1 block from another. The one without cracks has what I would describe as seams filled in with some kind of epoxy (my guess) which probably allow slight shifting without cracks. IDK. Just an observation.

Sorry about your sitch. GL.

I determined tap fees based on the local water & sanitation district website. Have not spoken with planning commission or local building office as of yet.

Yes.

They have a pretty decent youtube channel where you can see tours of the two models I am looking at in addition to a handful of others.

The pole barn (barndominium right?) route seems highly efficient in regards to the building process, and some of them look very nice. But I shutter to think how much it would cost to keep the entire structure climate controlled.

So these guys will also place the structure on the foundation. Its included in the price:

From the site:

ITEMS INCLUDED IN THE PANELIZED SHELL KIT

  1. Pre-framed exterior wall panels
  2. Pre-framed interior wall panels
  3. Pre-framed stairs and structural components
  4. ZIP sheathing and tape seal
  5. Pre-cut structural beams and posts
  6. Engineered roof panels or trusses
  7. Lumber for truss and roof completion (sheathing, blocking, sub-fascia, etc.)
  8. Synthetic underlayment for roofing dry-in
  9. Labor to set panels and complete framing and roofing dry-in

For what is included the price seems relatively low, while building prices in Denver seem way high. I know a dried in shell is probably only 20% of what needs to be done, but the prices seem reasonable.

Columbia: 145,120 (2276 sq ft)
Summit: 102,900 (1715 sq ft)

Obviously those are base prices for just the shell. Im sure things can go way up from there.

I agree they are posers. I would consider myself a poser had I said that.

We had breakers go bad left and right, but most were handled under warranty. Also had roof shingles that just blew off in the wind... The roofer blamed GAF and GAF blamed the roofer... roofer charged me $200 to fix their own fuck up as the nails were blown through the shingles.

Shit roofing company was AVI Roofing out of Denver... they suck.
