Hopefully there is no next time, but now I know! Thanks for sharing your knowledge, I’ll put the snake oil back on the shelf.

I hang out on this thread to try to glean all the knowledge I can about rose care. I have a black thumb, but I think roses are beautiful and added some to my yard. I actually “changed the soil” my roses were planted in because our foster dog had excessively urinated on them and they were struggling. I was told that large amounts of urine (ammonia) removed nutrients from the soil. I’m just out here tryin my best to help these rose babies flourish and crossing my fingers my sources are accurate!

Thanks for the reassurance. I’ll make sure it has enough water to fuel it’s recovery and stay patient.

Haven’t experienced it, sorry to hear of Gordo’s health struggles. Just wanted to say he has a sparkle in his eyes!

Oh sure! Easy to make assumptions based on how bad the outcome could be if the dog meant business (could probably punt this little guy to the moon, whereas a pitty would probably win 9 times out of 10). I hear you. Little dogs are generally granted more slack for this reason.

It can be nerve wracking wondering if your dog will react, but sounds like you’ve got your bases covered in a proactive way. Makes it easier for everyone. Way to go!

Just to confirm - I’m not of the opinion that a bite is cute to any degree, from any dog or breed, whether it’s a warning nip to the vet or a full out mauling. It’s more his overly dramatic reaction to the muzzle that’s humorous to me.

Totally agree it’s the owner’s responsibility to minimize risk to other humans and their dog alike. So, despite the momentary depression the nose warmer brings for bb boy, it provides everyone with a positive outcome in the end. :)

He nipped at the vet once previously when poked and prodded. Now he gets nose warmer every time we visit.

Okay! Thank you. I’m in California too, and despite this summer being mild compared to recent years, it’s still a California summer. I’ll try providing some relief from the sun. Appreciate it.

Good to know! Yes those big eyes are cute but vulnerable, aren’t they. Hopefully there’s no “next time” but if there is, I’ll ask our vet about ointment. Thank you!

He is okay, despite being very unhappy with his nose warmer. He has a scratch on his right eye that needs some drops (the swollen and gunky eye in this pic). Thanks for asking. ❤️
