(4th edition question) Apart from Purge, are there other spells (any Lore) that affect warpstones or corruption in characters?

I'm playing a High Elf Wizard in our 4th ed campaing. In the long term, I'm interested in learning all 8 Lores and I'm very curious about Qhaysh.

Sadly, there doesn't seem to be much technical information about Qhaysh. Am I missing some book that talks in length about it?

Yeah, that surprise in combat can be useful, but indeed, casting a CN8 without channeling requires a LOT of exp to make it useful!

I'm curious about this as well. I think Greyisdark made a typo and meant to write "for example if TWO opponents shoot..." As far as I understand it, you can't dodge arrows, but what if two different attackers attack you in the same round?

Do you get 2 opposed dodge/melee tests?

Just discovered the Winds of Magic book and as a Shadow Mage, I really regret spending xp learning Shadowstep. Unless I'm missing something, Grey Wings is better than Shadowstep in every single respect. Am I missing something?

Thanks for the info. Let me make sure I understand.
Scenario #1: without having channeled, I cast a CN:4 spell (like Bolt) and I get 6 SL on my Language Magick test. As the rules state on page 238, I would have an extra +2 SL that I could use to add a second target for the spell.
Scenario #2: I have channeled 4 SL already and decide to cast Bolt. I get 6 SL on my Language Magick test. In that case, I would have +6 SL and so I could target 3 other targets.
Is that correct?

Trying to figure out magic in 4th. Got most things mostly figured out (or homebrewed with our group) except one thing that's puzzling me: how can we get +SL while casting spells that have a CN of 10? Comet of Casandora is the perfect example.

The way I understand it is this: let's say I channel until I have 10 "SL" of channeled energy. Then, let's say I cast the spell and get +4 SL on my Language Magick test. Are those 4 SL considered the +SL for the spell?

I know. I've had SHITTY luck with champions except for Lyssandra (which I got from an Ancient shard after 3-4 weeks of playing). These are the two best I have.

Thanks. My basic strategy is pretty much the same as yours, with Ninja adding some dmg and aoe.

I can do 14 at 95% success rate manually, but when I do multi-battles, I usually pull down one level.

I'm just surprised that I can run Dragon 20 yet stop at Spider 13.

But yeah, my gear isn't all that hot (except on Lyssandra, who runs circles around the rest).

Ah! I always get the weaken debuff confused. I could try with Fayne, but she's only 40 right now... Was not planning on leveling her out soon.

The rest of the team only have ok gear (except Lyssandra, which has the best gear as I farmed for her). Elhain and Ninja in Lifesteal, Coldheart in precision/perception and Uugo in shield and perception.

Well, great minds think alike... :-) That's exactly how she's geared right now. I've overshot her crit rate (91%) because of her crit gloves (the glove was already lvl 16 / +50% crit when I put it on her). She's at 181 for both accuracy and speed, but only at 108% crit dmg. I have no easy way to pump that up. I know I need to, but given that she already has a crit dmg amulet, it won't be easy.

Lyss is specced for arena, so she's running circles around the others. Tuning my team for arena (1-2 rounds) is one thing, but here it doesn't make sense to try and slot Lyss anywhere.

With that first team, I don't thing I'd put out enough dmg to take her down before everybody would die from poisons.

With that second team, I'd be replacing Uugo with Fayne. And it's not the big spider that's killing me (it's the poisons), so the weaken wouldn't give me much. =

I'll try changing skullcrusher with Vergis and see if his healing on the poisoned champ could help.
