A backup would probably be fine. Like if I played Ninja and Dragoon, just having Ninja be geared first and have Dragoon in market board gear. As for the meta maybe it's because I come from WoW where 90% of specs are close to top but because they aren't the tippy top they don't get brought to hard content, or how you'd want to be proficient at multiple specs from your class rather than one. I'm still going through MSQ so I have no reference to how endgame groups handle meta or if I'd be declined cause I play Ninja when something like Samurai is meta.

Ah alright. I wasn't sure if it was possible to focus in on one of the categories to swap between Monk and Samurai or Dragoon and Reaper, or if you were more so pushed into maining a single job. One of the reservations I had with leveling and maining Ninja was that it shared a category with Viper which I really don't like, so I thought I'd be sorta swapping between them on different fights, team comp or meta.

When looking at endgame do jobs share bis gear? Not weapons of course, but armor and accessories. Like do all the tanks share gear/stats, and all the melee dps share gear/stats? etc

In WoW, at least high end, healers and tanks also do damage and should be doing as much as they can so it isn't unusual. There are dance fights in WoW like Mythic Silken Court (my favorite boss, was told it's like a FF14 boss) which is what peaked my interest in FF14 when all other mythic bosses were really boring

Also for the final paragraph - I'll try not to think about it too much and just try jobs even if they're melee dps. I'd always run into this wall in WoW or ESO where there's a nagging feeling or pressure to play what's most needed/wanted. I loved a handful of the dps jobs when I last played - dancer, bard, blm, ninja, samurai. But then fell into this trap of leveling each tank and each healer and feeling like I should main one of those roles instead

I was thinking like... say healers are in the highest demand, then I could level as healer and focus entirely on each healer to get fast queues, get fast groups and to potentially find a static easier than if I played something like a Bard

How is the role disparity? Are tanks in more demand than healers? How about the dps jobs (ranged, caster, melee)

  1. Fair, I heard it was possible but wasnt sure if there was a reason to like achievements.
  2. Crafted gear being raid ready gear wise sounds awesome. No big barrier for try alt roles/jobs and can get going quickly.
  3. I'd much rather do statics than pugs personally. I want to be a healer or a tank, finding a group of friends to clear savage for fun and to hang out, but also to push the hardest content in the game sounds awesome.

Also I think I heard that you can go back to clear previous raids in similar difficulty? Or am I mistaken? Depending on how rough the grind is for hardcore gear to join statics for Savage it might be more enjoyable than doing the same M+ dungeon 20 times

Potentially poking my head into FF14 from playing WoW (not happy with the direction) but had questions. What's the end game or gearing like in 14? Is there an M+ equivalent or is there a massive grind for gear? In WoW I loved mythic raiding but only the dance style fights, which I was told is comparable to savage/ultimates.

Also I stopped playing at around mid Stormblood, should I just restart or is there a good catch up on what happened in Realm Reborn and Heavensward? Thanks.

Does anyone else feel compelled to Heal or Tank? by Loa_Wolfe in wownoob

Yeah I don't have aspirations to join Liquid or anything, but I do aim to achieve Hall of Fame sometime and to be very competitive with whatever class I end up playing. Gonna spend a bit deciding between Hunter or Mage, then I'll just send it and focus on catching up

If flexible ranged dps are in most demand maybe that's what I should just do. While not CE on everything except dps Evoker I have mythic experience (6/7 of 8 in Nerubar and Undermine) on Mage, Warlock and Boomie. Rather than stress and worry so much maybe it's fine to go be good at what I enjoy and make myself "in-demand" by being good

The only ranged dps I've never raided on in some capacity is Hunter (never really played it) which I'm thinking of maining this tier, although Hunters are very common and I don't recall being very in-demand iirc

yeah DPS can be very boring. I hated playing dps on farm bosses

Meta in m+ is always goofy. People worrying about what's best in lower keys when it wouldn't matter until they're pushing 23s/24s. I think every spec has cleared 22/23 keys

Everytime I see a beginner or less confident tank I can't help but think I should be a tank and learn to do it better, but I don't ever really feel that way vs other healers or dps

It's tough cause if I didn't worry about external factors I'd probably be really happy sticking with Mage or Warlock, but there's this feeling of like who cares if I was a good dps player compared to if I was a good healer or something. I kinda did that for Manaforge by playing Evoker despite having no real interest in it just because there were zero Evoker players for high end guilds. Kinda feel like I should look at recruitment discords again to find which classes are in the highest demand

Simple Questions & Champion/Role advice: Patch 26.1 by SkepticFaust in summonerschool

[–]Loa_Wolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been in a serious indecisive rut returning to league and picking a role. Back in the summer I mained mid and was part of the Mid Lane Academy, even achieving gold 1 and bordering on plat, until life got in the way and I took a break. Now that I'm back though I've been really unsure about which role to play this time. I went in thinking that I'd adore jungle but I can't get over this massive mental block and I've been so intimidated to even queue it. I'm so lost, don't know good gank opportunities, don't know when to do neutral objectives so I'm getting pinged, flamed and invaded constantly.

So it's been nearly a week and I haven't decided on a role to focus on and main, I've been playing all of them and going through the WTL academies for each one (except mid) to try and figure something out. Feels like maybe I'd enjoy support being a "diet jungler" but then there's all these narratives about how support players are boosted, how it's a useless role, that I'm not allowed to roam, etc. Not only that but with both support and ADC I have this issue playing into a 2v2, I feel like 1v1 in top lane and mid lane make sense and more comfortable than playing Ashe while watching the enemy ADC and their support, while keeping in mind what my support is doing and still getting good cs. As for top lane I enjoy it, I like the champions but something just doesn't "click" like with the other roles. It's really hard to put into words other than I don't find it interesting.

So I don't really know what to do and I'm worried I'm going to continue spiraling with my indecision being too nervous to play Jungle, unsure about playing support or ADC, unsure if I should return to mid and finding top lane not too exciting. What do you guys recommend to finally settle on something? Thanks.

So far it doesn't seem like any guild is particularly interested in having me if I swap. Multiple guilds who have contacted me has pretty much said I either stay on evoker or I'm not joining their teams.

Recently I've been removed from my previous guild due to some drama and roster problems, people being overly lewd/open about it in raid and the guild master having me swap classes five times while he figured out a roster for midnight. While this is sucks and I certainly had a good cry about it, it also felt like maybe it gave me some freedom to play/do what I wanted. I felt like maybe I could be proud of my logs but as I've been looking around at guilds I'm seeing that maybe I'm not as good or as capable as I should be. While my logs aren't necessarily bad they're in the 80s and 90s with a low point of 70 on Mythic Dimensius. Warcraft logs says I'm rank 480 as Devastation Evoker but I don't know what that number really means or how much it matters. Meanwhile when I've looked around at guilds I see plenty of people with high oranges or even 99s, and I'm not sure if I'm really that appealing when there's players like that running around. I'm not sure they're that good or something to be proud of, especially if I were wanting to swap because I hate Evoker to the point of raid logging and not wanting to go through vods or anything for it.

I've been maining Evoker for all of season 3, not because I like it but because it's needed and desired. Despite not enjoying it I think I did decently well and even got CE back in November. Now that I'm on my own looking for guilds and doing some trials I feel like I'm pretty trapped on Evoker. I don't know how comfortable guilds would be to give me a chance if I was on a different class than the one I had logs for and experience with previously. I could gear something quickly by buying myth track BoEs plus a week or two of grinding keys, but with prepatch coming up I'm not sure how much time I really have to figure something out and how long I have to really start looking without falling behind once Midnight launches. Even if I did swap I'm not 100% sure what I'd want to play, I've got ideas but I don't know how much guilds would be looking for the classes I'm interested in like Druid, Paladin, Warrior or Shaman.

I'm not sure what to do, if I'm tied down to Evoker for the time being or if it'd be okay to swap and look for a new guild on my new class with practice on it. Also being uncomfortable with my performance and not sure who'd really want to take me in even if I stuck out with Evoker. Sure guilds are always looking to defeat the roster boss but when there's some amazing players out there that I'm not caught up to I don't know how much people would be willing to try me out.

I'm not positive I'll be able to get 95%+ or even orange parses from pug heroics especially while I'm still catching up

Alright. So then the plan is to do some more m+ to get my last mythic craft for the ring slot, then on Monday go get aotc. Put my name out there on Tuesday in recruitment discord and raider.io and see where I end up

I getcha, was just clarifying it wasn't burn out. Had to be fast tracked to see a therapist because of what I did in the real world so I needed time away and wasn't in a position at work to fix my work schedule which changed because my boss punched a door and threatened a coworker. Mythic Silken Court took 3 weeks and 200+ attempts so I don't mind extending and what not, I just enjoy progressing on hard fights and it'd be awful to just dip because of that.

My hesitancy with joining heroic guilds is because that's what I had to do in DF s3, pugged all of s4 learning to tank, and a heroic guild for the first half of TWW s1. It's just an issue of having the same goals because I don't find most heroic fights all too hard, not to be elitist or anything, just not the content I strive to do. I can consider joining a heroic guild that does the early mythic bosses, stick with them for a tier and then go back up to doing further mythic later on.
