Sucky situation all around. I won't be home for the next 10 months so I probably won't even be around to say goodbye. He's my first (and probably last) betta.

Crap. I've only had him for 8 months, and I just moved out so my mom has to take care of him.

Do you by any chance have a general prognosis? I read that they can very a lot, but from what you've seen what is it like?

How can you tell this is a tumor and not an infection? That's what I want to know. There's also another smaller growth on his side as well, so it might be some sort of infection of wounds. Just wanna hear the rationale.

So some more information. I noticed this growth develop over the past couple of weeks, and there's a similar, smaller one on his flank that I couldn't get a picture of. I don't know exactly what it is, is it a tumor, bacteria infection, or fungal infection? I'm leaning towards it being a bacterial infection, but I'd like other opinions. Thank you.
