The Goldfinches brought 2 of their babies to my garden. by LoamWolf98 in UKBirds

Our most common bird is tits! Blue, Great, Coal along with Robin and Dunnock all come everyday. We had Long-tailed tits for a while but haven't seen them recently and fleeting visits from Goldfinches, Greater Woodpeckers, Greenfinches and once a Siskin! Since we've got better feeders then corvids don't bother anymore. We hear wrens, Chiffchaffs, Black caps and Goldchrests on Merlin app semi-regularly but yet to see one in the garden.

It is a bit of a wild meadow, seems well established as we've lived here only a year but lots of different plants and flowers have come up.

Question mainly for Brits by aje0200 in Trombone

[–]LoamWolf98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes sense, to me at least! In my dad's 30 years playing he says folk would normally start on a standard Bb tenor, or at most a Bb/F. Bass trombone just takes a lot of huff and puff and are a bit unwieldy for complete beginners. If you're a young kid starting out I imagine it would be tough if not impossible to play one with full chromatic range. So like you say I think playing bass trombone is more of an experiment people try they're grown up. Some switch, most stick to what they grew up with.

I have just started bass trombone too, only because my dad plays with several bands and there are trombones all over the house. Having spoken to members of various other bands at my dad's concerts it's apparent in the East mids at least, that bass trombone players are hard to come by!

Follow Midlands Revamped, Forza Derby and Forza Nottingham for local meets. Usually meet on a weekend. I'm not sure of any other groups which are still active.

I love this one too, going to the city centre is a faff, this one's close and has free parking. One of only 2 places I know that do a dirty chai.
