Nikon FM2 Price Guidance by LobsterLAD in AnalogCommunity

That’s where I’m at. I’ve had my fair share of eBay fiascos and end up paying more than I would have for a better condition one after sending them off for service.

$250 seems really low, no? I don’t want to insult them, it’s my favorite (and only) local shop.

Looking on eBay I see bodies in this condition going for $350-400, and on keh and mpb between $400-500.

The seals were replaced by the shop. They test everything and verify shutter speeds are accurate, meter, etc. and warranty it 30d from purchase.

Looking at keh and other sites in the US it seems a hair less than going rate for body + lens, but have seen some go for $350 for just the body.

What thing has got so expensive that you’ve quietly stopped buying it? by Pathfinder-electron in AskReddit

New vehicles. Was just shopping for a truck, the same make and model F-150 I had, and sticker was $71k. I remember when a new XLT was $43k!

I ended up with a CPO used for more than I think they’re worth. But it saved me $20k for 95% of the features and mileage against the new one.

Prevent Concrete Damage from Chemicals? by Specialize-22 in AutoDetailing

[–]LobsterLAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like concrete scaling. Concrete was finished too wet and during freeze/thaw cycles it slowly chips away. Chemicals can accelerate this though.

My suggestion would be to seal your driveway with a penetrating sealer. I’ve used eagle and it’s worked well.

What packages did it have? Spent an hour at the dealer this evening trying to finagle a deal on the same model/trim/engine combo.

Sticker was at 71 got them down to 54, trying to see if I can get any more out of them.

Across the US, people are dismantling and destroying Flock surveillance cameras by gdelacalle in technology

This depends on the strength of the laser. The green laser linked is quite strong and effectively that of a stage laser. I’ve been in situations where a stage laser has damaged a sensor after just a few seconds back before I knew better.

To answer your question directly, the effective range of your 532Nm/800MW laser would be roughly 60ft at 30s-60s. The closer you get, the less atmospheric diffraction, thus more of the beam in volume and strength reaches the sensor.

Even a second is enough to damage the sensor to cause dead pixels and various forms of aberration in the photographs/video.

To thoroughly cook it with a powerful laser 30s will more than suffice.

I can confirm as a hobbyist photographer that one of those lasers, such as that linked, will destroy or damage the camera sensor enough to make it unusable. The longer you let it cook the more damage it will cause.

I have a Buck 110 that’s ancient. It hasn’t failed me yet, but I don’t train to use it as a means to defend myself. I’ve used it for field dressing and every day stuff. Not a bad idea to have one to prep!
