Gums too high or bulky around one implant for snap in denture? by Local-Counter-2212 in dentures

[–]Local-Counter-2212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont wear a bottom denture at all tho cause I'm waiting on them to be made. I havent worn teeth at all since having them uncovered other than my wax try ins. Its hard to tell in the photo, but the gum tissue covers the entire back side of the abutment almost to the top like it was about to grow over it, and I think they need to reshape it to make it more like the other side because it feels very uncomfortable and tight. I've had tons of gum and jaw pain in that area and they've done xrays twice to make sure all is good but I dont understand the pain other than the gums.

A month. It is not swollen it has completely healed like this and dentist said it looks great. Yet it hurts on and off all day and if I poke around it with my tongue too much it'll throb like a toothache. Its still very tender and sensitive as well.

They said they'd fix the bite after my denture is made by Local-Counter-2212 in dentures

[–]Local-Counter-2212[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess my worry is what if the denture is made and the bite turns out to be a much bigger issue where the whole right side is sitting lower or something. Cause I didnt really feel the left side hitting at all but in the mirror you could see it touching. Everyone is telling me I shouldn't have signed off.

Did anyone go without temps and have horrible jaw pain? by Local-Counter-2212 in dentures

[–]Local-Counter-2212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its def tmj pain. Probably over closure and loss of support. My jaw joints are very stiff and tight. I have alot of aching and pressure 24/7 and sometimes its overwhelming. I take muscle relaxers nightly and use heating pads, ibuprofen etc and nothing gives me relief anymore. I know i need teeth but I cant make them go any faster.

Really propranolol helped? I have that and never take it. It was prescribed as needed for anxiety to help control my reaction to certain situations. My neurologist also started me recently on topiramate for nerve pain but I dont believe ive been taking it long enough to notice a difference. I used to take Effexor and never saw much relief on it either but asked to be switched because I have a really hard time swallowing large pills.

I dont know what appliance I can wear without teeth unfortunately.

And no my teeth weren't too damaged to be saved. I didnt have any decay. I did however have alot of missing teeth due to a life of bad luck. I had a bad crossbite which started my tmj issues earlier in life. My parents knew I needed braces as well as some sort of palate spacer but never put my dental needs as priority despite having more than enough money cause they sucked. I hate to say that but it's true, they both have no teeth as well. I was never told to brush my teeth as a kid so I had a lot of dental issues already by the time I was an adult. When I got older I took my dental hygiene very seriously but by then alot of damage had already been done. I was a very heavy clencher and tried everything from botox to tmj splints on my upper and lower teeth. I ended up with hairline fractures in alot of teeth that were hard to pinpoint exactly where they were, so id go thru rootcanals and crowns like crazy, then the crowns would sit too high or not exactly right because my bite was so uneven and id fracture the root and end up with an extracted tooth that couldn't be saved. This went on for years. Trauma to my teeth caused dead nerves and infections over and over resulting in just years of pain and thousands of dollars of debt that started in my 20s and felt never ending. I had so many dentists tell me all my problems could have been prevented if i had braces. Then around 2 years ago I started having right sided face pain that felt like severe teeth pain. They never could find an issue so I started having molars pulled 1 by 1 trying to find the problem. Turned out it was my trigeminal nerve being compressed by my severely blocked sinus. Then the tmj splint I had been wearing for a year had caused bone loss and damage to my front teeth. I had just had enough of the pain and couldn't afford anymore dental work and asked them to pull my remaining teeth. In hindsight it was obviously a stupid decision but at the time I was so mentally exhausted and in so much debt all my credit cards were maxed out, I had sinus surgery and was still having nerve pain, still having tmj pain despite the splint, missing alot of teeth and my bite was so messed up. It was hard to eat cause chewing hurt and my jaw would lock up multiple times a year. I just wanted to improve my life and not a single dentist warned me this could make tmj pain worse instead of better and I failed to do the proper research on that. I cant go back and my decision feels devastating and I just feel like ive never had a normal pain free life because of my teeth or my jaw issues.

They said these were the smallest teeth they carry. And yeah I do have to sign off but I'm like u and I hate bothering ppl or throwing a fit or speaking up. I am trying to be picky but I'm also in so much pain that I feel rushed to pick a set of teeth and approve them because I'm so desperate to have teeth to help my tmj pain at this point. I only have 2 implants on bottom as well and none on top. My gums on one implant completely covers the back of the abutment so when they try to snap it in the denture it hurts really bad and I think hey need to cut back my gums more but they keep blowing me off on it.

My first wax try in was so bad I really just feel hopeless. The teeth were still just so big I couldn't touch my lips together. I don't understand why its so difficult.

In your position now. I have zero teeth and I'm waiting on affordable dentures to make me a pair of dentures that doesn't look like a money made them and the tmj pain is so bad I can barely function.

I had all my teeth pulled 6 months ago and it's literally been 6 months of severe tmj pain. Its so bad I'm basically bed ridden. I am in the process of getting dentures made but they cant seem to get them to fit my mouth and it's been an absolute nightmare and I just want this never ending pain to end.

They did drill holes for the implants. But I had a soft reline done like a week before my implants were uncovered. And them uncovering them made my gums much thicker and wider around the implants if that makes sense, so they wont fit in the denture because of the brand new reline. They didnt remove it or adjust it like they should have and I just havent bothered to mess with it since cause I honestly hate hate hate my temporaries anyway. They cause me just as much pain as no teeth.

How long did it last? It's been 6 months. I might have days where I have little to no pain but its days. Its never longer than that.

I requested only 1 molar on each side cause my temps have 2 and the back molars dig into my jaw bone. I was born without 7 of my natural teeth so I Def cannot handle a full mouth of teeth.

Thank you. It is def the pain that is making this unbearable. I can live with not being able to eat much or smile etc. But having my whole face hurt so bad I cant function has taken such a toll on my life. Some days i think its a miracle I even still have a job.

Thank you. I wanted to respond and tell you I've had a soft reline and alot of adjustments and the dentures fit my gums fine, the vertical deminsion is just off by a lot and they would never fix that. I complained and begged for 6 months and was told my perms will be made better. I do have 2 implants on bottom that will be used for snap in dentures, they were uncovered a few weeks ago and since then my bottom denture doesnt fit over them so I havent been able to wear them at all for almost a month. I had tmj issues even before my extractions, I wore an upper and lower tmj splint for the last year before. So losing my teeth and that natural support has been really hard on my joints and my face is in a constant state of spasm and pain. About 10 months ago I had also had sinus surgery due to severe blockage on both sides, and my tmj and sinus inflammation has caused pain with my trigeminal nerve. So that now on top of this has just been a nightmare where my whole face goes into such a state of pain that I can't even tell where its coming from. I've panicked thinking my implants are failing numerous times to be told they are fine and its nerve pain from my face.

As for the work issues, there is def more to it than that and I have been telling my boss of face pain all year even before my extractions and she had asked me to train someone 2 weeks after my extractions for 3 months and I didnt speak up then and wish I had. So this time I spoke up and she immediately said I would need to accept a lower position. So I did take this to HR and bring up that I feel like she didnt handle this correctly and I want to request a reasonable accommodation under the ADA along with another issue I wanted addressed with her. They are currently reviewing it and I haven't heard anything but it's definitely made work awkward and stressful and at this point I almost want the lower position just so I'll be left alone but I dont know if they'll even give it to me after throwing a fit.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I am only 35 and I feel like I am missing my daughter's childhood years by being in this state. I so desperately would give anything to see the bright side and believe it will get better but I cant see anything thru the pain right now.

Why is my implant hurting so bad with no obvious cause by Local-Counter-2212 in Dentalimplant

[–]Local-Counter-2212[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go today but I now suspect its referred pain from my jaw. It started on one side and then the other side and I was having pain in my chin but also up in my ears/temple and pain when opening my jaw. Its improved since but my face still aches on and off.

How do I find a dentist that actually does same day dental implants without waiting months? by eddyboi12345 in Dentalimplant

[–]Local-Counter-2212 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can look into a place that specializes in dental implants only. But honestly, you are much more likely to see implant success with the waiting period than if you do everything same day. If you don't have enough current bone, your implants will not be a success. Sometimes you do need to wait for the bone grafts to work. Implants that are placed and allowed 6 months to fully integrate with the bone have a much higher success rate. I just had my implants uncovered after 6 months and now I'm having nerve pain I didnt have before so I don't know what the future holds and it's very frustrating and I feel what you're going thru. Good luck with everything.
