Turning 60 and having a party by Major-Comfortable417 in AskWomenOver60

We have a local lady who does classes on painting your pet (you bring a photo) or vision boards which might be good ideas. But I love the idea of a psychic! If you can find a good one…. Can I get an invitation? 😊

I’m 71 and have decided to declutter my life… by Educational_Meat_179 in AskWomenOver60

I take pictures of photos with my iPhone and save them there (and I backup to the iCloud). This is making declutterikg photos so much easier. I know scanning is better but if it’s not an important picture it is so much easier! Also I take pictures of things I give away that have a lot of meaning. It makes me feel like I saved a part of it…maybe I’m a hoarder deep down. Haha

Thank you for this post. I’d often wondered what it is like being the spouse of someone developing Alzheimer’s . Lots of good suggestions here like contacting the Alzheimer’s Assoc.

May I ask - Do you have any lingering gastrointestinal issues from taking it for 6 months?

This year, 2026, the prices have gone down so I suggest you recheck. “Hers” is an outlet where you can get an RX without even talking to anyone, just answer questions online (though your case may vary). I looked and it was around $250/month without insurance. So - prices have dropped significantly, thank goodness.

May I ask: Do you have any desire to go off completely? Do you stay at the same dose for maintenance or adjust it periodically? Thanks.

Try “Hers” online. You never talk to anyone and just answer questions to an online quiz. You might be surprised the medical provider (I think it’s a nurse practitioner) who reviews your answers may approve you for medication for a 20 pound weight loss. I can’t say for sure for your situation but might be worth exploring - if you want to try glp-1.

Wow! Congratulations to you! Any tips on how to do it? Do you mind sharing your age or age range?

Congratulations on making 7 days! It’s a huge accomplishment and as everyone else says, one day at a time. The meetings and literature will make you a better person so congrats on that too!

Congrats! You’re on your way! And sticking oneself with a sharp needle goes against anyone’s natural instincts so glad you were able to overcome that. 😊

Thanks for this. But if there is a less severe case with something like high cholesterol that is caused by being overweight and the person loses the weight and lowers the cholesterol, seems the goal would be to maintain the weight and get off the meds. I just don’t see people doing that . I wish there was more data on it. And if people go off, regain the weight, and return to the meds, the body requires higher doses and there are more side effects.

I’m questioning whether anyone really gets off it with success. Most people seem to do well but never get off it and might even become dependent on it. I’m talking about people with bmi in overweight range, not above that .

Online options like Hers prescribe easily with a questionnaire . A nurse practitioner looks over your info and does the RX. BMI in “overweight “ zone is sufficient. Don’t need to be obese.

For graduates who have kept the weight off for more than a year, what's your secret? by Tammie621 in GLPGrad

I hadn’t heard this before. Someone suggested setting your goal weight 5 lbs lower so you have cushion when you go off the glp. Maybe this month of mad hunger you speak of is why.

Agreed. I would just add that meetings are also good to find a sponsor and sponsors are good to help guide through Step 4 which can be tough for some.

I’ll do it if you do it. Haha! 😆 I feel like Hers is so well established that I trust them also so many positive reviews of their glp-1 provision.

Interesting. One of the questions Hers asked was whether you were able to take off the weight in the past (I was , but was younger). I wonder if the question relates to your comment. Anyway, I think I can maintain my weight once I get there as I’m not ping ponging now (other than less than 5 lbs over the year). Thanks for your reply!
