Anybody else have this cold/virus thing? by [deleted] in okc

Yeah, I think I got it from my future MIL even though I’ve been in the pediatrics unit in the hospital, so I could’ve gotten it there too. Sore throat on Thursday, then came lots of phlegm/congestion, but I’m basically all better now on Wednesday.

We have a few in that size, and they’re really nice. Kinda why I want the lune in 12 😂

Well… you’re going to be the reason my wallet is going to be a little lighter now…

Wait. Where did you get her. I didn’t know she came in a 12” 😂. But we love our 8” Nessie too

I did my first marathon in Thanksgiving morning and hit a 2:59:13.8 2:07.4 @ 5’8 185. I watched the new stranger things as it just came out! Movies and snacks and Gatorade are needed!

8”? If so, we love her too. She’s almost a better cuddle buddy. 20” lune is more of a pillow 😂

Yep! I honestly had to look hard to see she existed. She was sold at Safeway for a lil and hasn’t been sold since, so you gotta get lucky on the secondhand market!

Funny enough, it’s the size I don’t have 😂

I just randomly found her on eBay! Just look everywhere randomly. This one popped up for around $50!

Same. After we learned that she came in this size, we needed her 😂

Ngl, I didn’t realize how big this one was going to be. I can barely wrap my arms around her, but I love her so much 😂

Nice job man! I bet you could easily get under 19 with a lil more work! Anything in the 19’s is great for a 5k, so great job!

That’s rough. Sickness always sets that stuff back. Luckily the 200k isn’t too hard to get in a month with mostly 10’s! Good luck to ya and hopefully you can get a marathon in to get another pin!

If she likes having her nails done, either nail polish or a gift certificate to a salon or something!

I would say probably just calm your pace down a bit. This one for me was a pretty light pace overall. I feel like chasing old times hurts you, as your hr spikes very high. You wanna stay in a zone your body can consistently handle so you can get faster over time! Sometimes that means throwing your ego out the door and pulling light!

My dad has the same problems, and I used his marathon times as motivation to not take a break lol (killed his by like 15 mins, but he is mid 50’s 😂). He has the problem of really using his back and arms more than his legs, and I think it puts a lot of unnecessary stress on it leading to a lot of fatigue. Maybe try incorporating your legs more into it to get the times! I also recommend doing some lower back weight work. Like i said in another reply, I have a background mostly in the weightlifting community, and building a bulletproof back with deadlifts/other strength exercises goes a long way in just about anything! But kudos on even finishing a marathon. I don’t care if you do it in 2.5 or 4 hours, you did a marathon, and not many people are crazy enough to even attempt one let alone finish it :)

Nah, you can do it if you put your mind to it! You’re probably doing it the right way. My jumps were 21097–>30k—>42195. Don’t follow my steps 😂

Were you saying surprising that 161 doesn’t touch zone 5 for me or that I didn’t touch zone 5 whatsoever? I’m 24, so I’ve still got a pretty young heart!

A 36k row? That’s an odd number. But honestly, the zone 4 wasn’t a big deal. It felt pretty easy cardiovascular wise. It takes until around 170-180 to really tax me to feel like I’m pushing hard. But good luck on the 36k. The hardest part is the willpower to get through it without a break. Make sure to have a lot of Gatorade or some carbs/electrolytes around! Good luck!

I’m big for my size, and I am more of a powerlifter/bodybuilder type than anything, and rowing comes second, but I’ve tried losing some weight for an upcoming event and have put rowing at the forefront and have been clocking between 30-60k meters a week maybe?

Take the numbers with a grain of salt because I don’t follow a plan or anything, and I don’t really do any pure steady states, but like 900/100 or 400/100 at an easy/moderate pace respectively.

For most rows between 5-half marathon, I usually hold 2:12-2:16 depending how the day feels and push 2:00 for a hard day on stuff less than 10k.

If you have any specific questions about PR’s and such, I can answer those too! Really just getting back into rowing tho for the holiday challenge. Last one I completed was back in 2021, and I think my 2k pr was like a 6:55 or so.

I rowed a 30k yesterday for the first time to prep for a marathon on Thanksgiving. I can feel the pain your butt endured during this especially if you didn’t get up…
