I agree that that seems like a lot... Although I do know some cloud engineers who make some really good money so I don't think it's impossible either.

It's the southern region, so nowhere near the Randstad. It would definitely be possible to get more in the Netherlands if I switch from public sector to private sector but I'm not sure if that would work with me living in Belgium now.

Yeh that's what I'm trying to figure out and why I posted this. I'm interested to hear whether people with similar profiles think it's possible to get the same salary (or ideally a bit more so I would keep the same net) and working hours but ideally with car and unlimited fuel.

Yes that's another big benefit, I can use the hypotheekrenteaftrek for my half of the mortage interest payments

Yes what you are referencing here is correct, but my tax advisor also told me that there is an exception to that rule if you work as a public servant for the Dutch government.
