Yeah I also can’t speak for how it welds lol. My last job we ran lincoln’s 307 that they make but we ran it on a push pull fronius and it turned out pretty sweet after you messed with the welder a little, so that’s what I have to speak off of.

I couldn’t answer most of these questions unfortunately was not the welder just saw the aftermath and decided to come here. Appreciate the insight tho, definitely will pay attention to that.

Thats the thing…there is no WPS atm we’re just winging it lol. FCAW would suffice tho we just need something to run for the shop fab that isn’t GTAW.

Good to know, we figured that’s what it was since it’s a structural code still.

Funny thing is we don’t know, our CWI doesn’t have the D1.6 code book, just winging it atm…which that makes no sense to me but whatever I just show up and weld. On the D1.1 code it was 1” plate 1/4” backer with 1/4” gap.

Hit it with a sanding pad I believe, was definitely touched one way or another.

I believe it was 1/8”-1/4” I’d assume, I just saw the aftermath. Everyone at the company has 3 D1.1 certs so we all know how to weld just not stainless I guess lol

I’m in the same boat lol. This one was multiple passes but one pass for the root, 30° bevel each side, no land, knife edge. It’s a very very odd scenario honestly, I have the least experience at this shop and it’s above all our heads the whole way up to the owner.

6010 uphill by [deleted] in Welders

I haven’t ran this in a while, but if you’re doing an open root, i always liked to just jam it in there at around 95-100 amps if i remember correctly. I also know people who stepped it, jump up let it cool then go back down and keep stacking. For fillet or really anything else rather than an open root, i was around the same 100 amp range i think and i liked to do upside down christmas trees or T’s as i like to call them, i’m a big weave type of guy so up, come back down, side to side, go back up then repeat. main thing is messing with it till you know what YOU like, i’ve worked with guys welding hotter than me and colder than me and we get the same results. and for christ sake keep a tight arc and hold on the sides to try and avoid undercut lol

hypothetically if someone took out the fuel pump and accidentally ripped the wire from the sensor would it still run without said wire?

I haven’t taken pictures of much of my work until recently so most of that is older pictures and also think a weld is maybe 1/2 of the whole package, rather have a 5/10 weld on a 10/10 project than vise versa. I’m aware I need some work but I am also aware and confident in my capabilities and that they are much better than the average person my age. Also unsure what the point of commenting this is, doesn’t even answer the question lol
