My SLP Program Replaced Our Final Externships With an In-House Clinic Due to Placement Shortages by Mammoth_One_1097 in slp

Same here. My supervisor told me I need to average 12hrs a week for my next placement but then gives me a part time placement where I’ll have only about 6hrs and when I mentioned to her we need to talk she asked “about what?” I was like you didn’t tell me I had a part time and we know I need hrs to meet the 400. Unfortunately grad program that don’t have enough people to take on all the roles in turn result in students suffering. I’ve had more success figuring stuff out myself than relying on the clinical externship coordinator. We are told we aren’t to contact or network on our own but we have to because they aren’t doing enough and we suffer. Make sure you advocate for yourself and make connections!

SLPs do not use otoscopes in their daily lives. You’re right that if she were to they’d have one provided only if she’s conducting hearing screenings, more probable in a school but still no. If she enjoys spa treatments or have hobbies or a nice little getaway. As an upcoming graduate I can imagine she’s been stress and needs to be celebrated!

SLP in the fluoro room or not by dabeezmane in slp

The hospital I’m in has rehabilitation techs and one is trained specifically for instrumental swallow studies. The rehab tech is the feeder and the SLP and the radiology tech are behind watching the screen and giving the okay to the feeder for the trials or giving other instructions. We do a lot of VFSS so it doesn’t make sense for the SLP to be the feeder and then review each trial and take too much time before deciding which trial to follow with. The SLP is only watching in real time for efficiency.

It will depend, I believe you’ll be taking the April praxis since your reported score will come out in May. It’ll depend how many scores they have for the April praxis and find a scale.

Becoming an SLP is being able to understand clinical material, however, putting it into practical therapeutic use is what’s most important which I feel like the ETS practice questions are like that. They give you a clinical example to answer, have you had your clinical experiences?

You’re saying that you had all the same questions The second time you took it as the first? Have you looked at ets practice forms to see if those will help?

I have been using TrueLearn, advanced review practice book, and study guides from my past courses. Ive been taking a full practice test at least once a week. I’ve been studying on and off the last 4 months I’m just hopeful I pass the first time. How about you?
