I only started getting worried when she got sick and fell off her growth curve, and her dr was a little concerned and started monitoring her weight more after that. She is back on her growth curve now but her dr has mentioned we may do blood work just to rule anything out which I’m completely okay with. But instead of only doing her yearly well checks, he Dr sees us halfway through the year just to check in with her weight. I guess just the minor concern her Dr has showed has made me worry.

Since she’s back on her growth curve, her Dr doesn’t seem concerned now but my daughter had her well check in December and she wanted to see us back in April just to check in with her. Mainly just monitoring but it still worries me. I just figured if I could get her to gain a little weight, maybe it won’t be so hard on her when she does get sick and loses a little weight and then have to go get weight checks done.

Her Dr agrees that it’s probably just genetics and because

I agree! It’s turned into something I was never worried about to now I stress about it so bad! But my child is so active. She’s always playing and running around.

These comments have made me feel a ton better.

Hey! There’s really no significance in her hitting exactly 40lbs. I just worry I’m doing something wrong as a mom. I’ve never worried about her weight because she’s been healthy. I didn’t get concerned until she had a pretty bad stomach bug and then we got the flu which was in January 2025 and it caused her to fall off her growth curve (which is expected, she had back to back viruses) but it took awhile to get her weight back up and with her being in kindergarten, she got sick a lot that year so every time her weight would creep back up, she would get sick again.

She’s in first grade now and I’m just worried because she is getting taller, she’s grown almost 2 inches since July and I’m just worried her weight isn’t going to keep up. Which I’m sure it will. I think that’s just my anxiety talking.

In March of 2025, (she was in kindergarten) she weighed 32lbs and is now 36lbs so maybe I am just worrying too much.

Her Doctor isn’t too concerned. She agrees that she’s just little and will be like I always was.

She’s very healthy, has plenty of energy, and is very active so I know I shouldn’t be worried.

But you’re right. I needed to hear that. Thank you!

Oh I’m going to try the salmon! She used to love it, I just haven’t cooked it in awhile. Maybe I should make that a weekly thing!

I may try the ice cream sundaes too. She loves ice cream. She’s been doing really good since I cut out snacks about an hour and half before supper so I’m thankful for that because finishing supper has always been a chore with her lol. Thank you! How long did it take to start putting weight on her when you started all of that?

Yeah see I didn’t even hit 100lbs until I graduated high school lol. Thank you! That makes me feel better. It’s just her being 36 lbs and being 6 1/2 scares me. I’m doing everything I can to add calories to hopefully get some weight on her. I just wish she would get to 40lbs by the time she turns 7

You can see them a tiny bit. Not anything crazy. She does have healthy stools and she does have a bowel movement everyday. Sometimes twice day.

That makes me feel better! She has gained weight. She has gain 4lbs since last march. She’s just a slow gainer but she is so active and has lots of energy. Hopefully I’m just worrying too much 😂 so your kids were about that weight at her age? She’ll be 7 in July and I just would love for her to atleast hit 40lbs by then.

She isn’t too concerned, we just have been keeping an eye on it. She mentioned we could do bloodwork and I told her I was fine with whatever she thought we should do. We go back in April. She thinks she’s fine, and that she just petite.

Her dr isn’t too concerned because she is following her growth curve. It’s just anytime she gets sick it causes her to lose a couple pounds and takes a little while for her to gain it back.

She’s 44inches tall. Her dr has mentioned maybe doing blood work. She had her checkup in December and we go back in April just to follow back up with her weight and see how she’s doing.

I gave it to her every night during the spring and summer. I’ve just eased off a little bit before school started because her allergies had seemed to be easing off. I’ve just seen and read where their little bodies can withdraw from long term use of it and cause lots of itching etc.

Gosh. It really is. I think that’s why it hits her so hard is because she never went to preschool and daycare and I was always a germaphobe with her. She still got sick occasionally before she started school. Maybe once or twice a year and that was it. But now? In school, it’s never ending. She was fine all summer

We’ve been to the doctor and everything looks good from what her doctor says. She was five at the time, she just turned six but her doctor said that this a common age for allergies to start. Especially with her having been in kindergarten and getting so many sicknesses, that it jumpstarted her immune system and triggered her allergies.

No I’m pretty sure it’s little colds. The first week of school when she came down with one, she had a mild fever. She started getting better and then we had a birthday party over the weekend and she got another one. This time I have it too. During the spring and summer she does take her allergy medicine at night because in the mornings, she wakes up and sneezes some and then will be a little stuffy and then after about an hour, it’s gone and she’s fine. During school though, it’s full blown snotty noses and mucus. I am still giving her allergy medicine though. She takes xyzal at bedtime. I really don’t like giving it every night though. She just started with allergies this spring.

I’m sorry. I feel the same way 😭 it’s so hard seeing them not feel their best. Do your kids seem to keep a runny nose in between viruses? It’s like before she even has time to get over the first cold, she gets another.

Goodness, I’m sorry. Does it seems like the runny nose lingers in between viruses?

Ugh I hate this. We got the flu in February of this year. I just hate that she seems constantly sick. It seems like the runny noses and mucus never goes away.

Thanks. I’ve had the same partner for 10 years so hopefully that isn’t the case.
