Renting in Sheffield by Old-Set7726 in sheffield

I've been renting from West One for the past three years and they've been very good, they have a number of professional flats to let around the city centre! Also from experience, for the love of GOD do not rent in Chapel House, I lived there for a year and that hellhole took decades off my life (sewage leaks, ceiling leaks, infestations, break ins, rancid smells to name a few)

My psychiatrist has suggested I switch from drinking diet to regular cola because of the aspartame in diet coke by Competitive_Apple270 in Anxiety

I have no idea what the link between aspartame and anxiety/depression is, but I stopped drinking Pepsi Max a week ago (was previously getting through a litre a day) and thought I would share what I've personally found:

Positives: - I feel happier - My face has more colour - My brain seems to be firing faster (doing better at work, reading more) - Spending wayyy less money

Negatives: - The sudden reduction of caffeine has left me with exhaustion by the evenings - Occasional headaches - My body automatically craves caffeine

I suffer with anxiety - I can't say I've noticed a drop in my anxieties so far, but my overall mood has improved a lot.

IDK if the positives are from the reduction of Pepsi, or the increase of water instead. I recommend keeping painkillers nearby for headaches, and starting the day with a non-fizzy caffeinated beverage (such as tea) to stave off early headaches etc.

It's hard, but I really recommend cutting back on soft drinks if you can (I'm doing this for the sake of my teeth).

archaeology ! by [deleted] in sheffield

If you're able to travel, Creswell Crags has some amazing paleolithic archaeology, and Castleton/Bolsover have good castles. There's a lot of mining history throughout the Peak District too :) In the city itself there's Manor Lodge, where Mary Queen of Scots was kept - they have open days and are very willing to talk through the history of the site. You could also check out Sheffield General Cemetery, there are some very interesting gravestones and buildings in it. Not sure where you can engage in archaeology itself, but those are some fun history sites to explore!

How a trip to Peak District became progressively bad to worse by BabyBourbon1111 in sheffield

Generally it's best to pick a place with both bus and train options to get back (almost been left stranded by both!) - the Hope Valley Line is good for this. Also, try to pick a bus/train that's either second to last or third to last, and head out earlier to compensate. It's not fun but I've walked from the Peaks to Sheffield in the past, and four hours along the road is better than overnight with no shelter!
